Figured I'd pull the trigger on a couple of cards I was eyeing since my next app won't be until March for Flagship. Might as well get them out of the way.

I'm about that Alienware life so the Dell Preferred account has been on my radar for a while. Never been able to prequalify or get approved in 20 years. A few months back I saw a thread about it and tried the prequal and was pre-qualified for $3000. Didn't pull the trigger because I was after other cards. After my car loan was paid and I took on another, the prequals disappeared. Tried it a couple of weeks ago out of the blue and got $2500. Thought about it for a couple of days then went ahead and apped. Instant approval.

Another card I was watching was the Lexus Pursuits Visa. This one, I was going to wait for since I had opened 4 comenity store cards since February and they had just converted my Wayfair into a MasterCard. I was searching for Lexus parts and stumbled on a prequal link for the Pursuits card. 😮 Never knew one existed and had been using the Toyota one to gauge likelihood for approval, never getting more than up to $1500. I pre-qualified for $2500 and thought that might translate into a $500 Visa to get me in the door. Thought about it for a week because of how many comenity cards I opened up in the 7 months before and the new MasterCard. Finally said YOLO and apped for the Visa. Got an immediate 2 week notice and I fell to my knees with my arms outstretched to the sky screaming, "NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! WHAT HAVE I DONE!?!?"

I couldn't find a number for recon so I called the comenity general phone number. The first lady patched me through to the new accounts department. They were able to confirm that it was being processed and not outright denied, but wouldn't tell me anymore, said to wait for the letter. A couple of days later, I got an alert that EQ was pulled, my worst score! I cursed the heavens for making me so dang handsome instead of blessing me with good credit. C'est la vie.

For the next couple of weeks I logged into my different comenity accounts to check if I still had available credit. I was also using my comenity card as my daily because I was after that statement credit SUB. I got nervous every time I was about to insert the card and couldn't decide if I was gonna act like I was expecting it to be denied, or act horrified and make them try again 10 times before pulling out my Amex Gold to prove it had to be a mistake because only people with money and good credit have Amex.

I received the letter and needed to call in for verification. Answered some credit questions. Thankfully I wasn't asked what year my house was built. That question got me blocked from locking my EQ. Guy congratulated me on a $2500 approval. I asked if it was the Visa or store card and he said he wasn't even aware there was a store card version. Said I would get the card in 7-10 days. Shortly after I got a welcome email explaining my perks. It was for the store card. **bleep**. Unfortunately, that means I can't app for the Visa in the future, I can only be invited.

When I received and activated the Lexus card, I did the dance of my people(applied for CLI). Went to review, hoped I didn't just trigger a mass closure, and cursed the heavens again for making me so handsome instead of giving me 800 FICOs. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until today...when I tried to order pizza with my comenity card...and it came back as invalid...😱😭. Turns out it was just an issue with their site 😬.

Scores: 620-40ish

Inquiries: I don't have enough finger and toes to count that high

New accounts since January: 9, but I closed 1 comenity. Paid auto loan and got a new one
