discover credit limit increase

Approved for three months in a row so far, 500, 800, 700.

The funny thing is there is no spending at all during these three months.

I tried to keep 200 dollar balance reporting for several months, denied. I tried to keep 5 dollar reporting for several months, denied. For the past three months, with no spending, no payments, approved. I am not sure is this a secret for discover credit limit increase?

It may not work for everyone, but so far, works for me. Getting a couple hundreds increase is more than happy for me.

I forgot to include that many people mentioned that after request online, then call in, you can get a little bit more. For me, call in after online request never worked, never. But, I am still happy.

Congrats on the increases! From what I can gather, discover is about as random as it gets when it comes to CLI's. Or anything for that matter. How long have you had the card?

It's possible they are attempting to incentivize you to use the card...

I know Disco is notoriously unpredictable, but does letting high util report help or hurt, generally? Let's say over 30%. Or 50%. Or 70%. I imagine there's a point where the score penalty will work against you, but you're also proving you need a bigger limit right?

Whether or not you let it report they know what you are using each month of your CL and they report the highest balance you achieve on the card even if it doesnt report said balance. If you dont care about Fico as you are not planning to app for credit you can let it report. Rule of thumb is dont let more than 30% overall report. I have taken some of my cards to the limit before so doing so and then paying them down doesnt hurt in the long run, running high balances and making minimums is what you dont want to be doing
