AMEX Gold Card & Platinum Approved!

Hi all!

I am excited to share that I was approved for the AMEX Gold Card today! I wasn't prequalfied for any of the cards, but something gave me an itch to try and apply anyway. Since I can't see the Gold card when logged in, I had to open an incognito window to apply. The application took about 60 seconds to process, then I was blessed with the Authorized User screen. At that point, I knew I was approved! Upon entering my wife's information, the application cut short and timed out with a system error. A quick login to the status check website and even a call to a representative confirmed that I was approved! Here are some data points:

Experian FICO 8: 709

4 new accounts in 24 months (this is now my 5th)

Overall utilization under 8%

Average age of accounts just under 5 years, newest account is only 6 months old (Amex Delta Platinum, which saw over $12k spend in 2020 alone)

I'm especially excited for this card as I am about to travel internationally for work for about 6 months. With over $100/day in per diem paid directly to me and all fuel charges reimbursed, it shouldn't be hard to rack up some serious MR while I'm gone! Not to mention the 60,000 MR sign-up bonus will basically be free! Time to hit the garden until September to prep for our new construction!

Wow! Just when I thought today couldn't get any better......

Earlier today, I applied for the AMEX Gold card and was approved with a 60k MR SUB! It's been about 13 hours since that application and still no alert of a hard pull on MyFICO!

In the event of a hard pull, I decided to combine two apps one one pull for fun. I clicked on the Platinum card and was immediately presented with the 100k MR + 10x SUB which tempted me into dropping an application, despite not having the "You're Approved!" message. Another 60 seconds passed before I came up on the AU screen, then an ID check. A few seconds after that and I received the approval message! It has been a few hours and still no hard inquiry notification. I remember when I applied for my AMEX Delta Platinum the hard inquiry notification came before the application even finished processing. I'm wondering if I got lucky this time?

Regardless, I'm extremely excited! I never thought I'd ever score the Gold or Platinum cards, let alone both in one day! Now I'll hit the garden, for real this time, while I work on earning my 160k combined MR SUB!!
