Elan Max Cash CC Approval

There's a thread in the CC Approvals Forum by Aim_High describing the "Max Cash" credit card issured & managed by Elan Financial:

Elan "Max Cash" -vs- US Bank Cash+

Elan is owned by US Bank and manages credit cards for dozens of smaller banks and credit unions. Elan issues a "Max Cash" CC which is pretty much identical to US Bank's Cash+ card, which offers several categories from which you chose 2 for 5% cashback rewards quarterly, plus 1 choice for 2% rewards. US Bank can be restrictive on approvals, and some feel Elan is less restrictive.

So, my approval:

Received my approval email this morning from Elan for the Max Cash Mastercard issued on behalf of the First National Bank of Texas, $14,900 CL. Elan pulled TU for me in AZ, my TU Fico 8 score was around 740, no new credit accounts or inquiries since Feb. 2020.

The thing is while First nat'l. Bank of TX has branches in AZ I have never had an account with them. I applied for the Max Cash through them as from Aim_High's list they're one of the few FIs that issue the card as a Mastercard, I preferred the MC version as I pay my mortgage & other things through Plastiq and you can't use a Visa to pay a mortgage, home equity, and several other things on Plastiq. Also, I've had the US Bank Cash+ card since Feb. 2020, I wanted the Elan card for additional 5% spend categories.

An interesting point: I applied Monday 1/18 and got a "under review" message. 4 days later with no email I thought they might have declined me when they found I had no accounts with First Nat'l bank TX. But Friday afternoon I got a phone call from Elan security dept. (while driving on a freeway, thank goodness for Bluetooth hands free!). After verifying my personal info the rep asked if I had applied while I "was travelling". Confused, I told her no, I applied on my home desktop PC. Then it hit me, I live on a rural 10 acre property and my only options for internet is wireless. Last fall I switched to T-Mobile Home Internet, much better & faster internet than a local company I had been using. But after the switch I noticed that internet ads that try to personalize by inserting your IP geo location place me in Anaheim CA, apparently where T-Mobile has their internet hub. So I explained this to the rep who was satisfied and confirmed my app indicated I had applied from Anaheim, and said she would send my app to Underwriting, next morning I got my approval email.

So, apparently you don't need accounts at a bank/CU you want the card issued on behalf of, Elan handles all apps & decisions. And they track your IP geo location.

Congrats to you! I just got this card through a local CU in my area (MO), I saw on Doctor of Credit that this card is offered by a bunch of banks just under different names. They pulled EQ for my inquiry.

Yes! Congrats on the approval and an awesome SL! How many revolvers have you opened in the last 12 months? I know it says since February but then you said you've had Cash+ since March so I was confused. I'm following all these Elan DPs closely!

@rgate88 Doctor of credit cannot be credited with that. DoC got that list from the MF thead referenced in the first post compiled and created by MF Contributor @Aim_High .

And actually, Elan offers this card with the same name "Max Cash" through many different banks.
