Discover Approved $9k (Rebuilding)

Hello everyone,

so excited, last night I decided to apply for my first CC in 9 months. I checked Discovers pre approval portal for any offers, two came back with solid aprs. So I continued and BAM APPROVED for $9,000 This is my highest limit EVER. Prior to this Amex Delta Gold $2k was my highest limit. Is there anyway to get my limit to $10k or above without getting a hard pull again? How long do I need to wait to try?

DP:

Fico 8: 703 (dropped 4 points after I applied)

Pulled: Ex

Utl: 28%
No Collections

1 Charge Off from 2017

I plan on applying for 4 more cards should I wait until the new Discover account post to my CR first or go ahead and apply for the others now? Would having the $9k limit on CR help with future approvals limits?

I wanted to apply for the Amex Gold charge card (rose gold) but it keeps saying Expand your membership. The last update on my Amex Fico 8 was: 690 If I go ahead and apply would it be a hard pull or soft pull? I've heard that if it's declined it won't be a hard and if it Approved then it'll be a hard pull. Can someone confirm this?

First congratulations on the Discover card with starting credit limit of 9K. I would wate and not apply for any new accounts for some time increase the limits on your other accounts, you will need to wate a year before you can request credit limit increase on your new discover account. If you already have have accounts with Amex then getting a new account with them should be soft pull, but if you take time in getting new accounts you will have better out comes and higher limits and stronger credit profile.

Thats a great sl. Most of us had to fight and claw to get there lol. I would not worry about getting 10k right now Use it get your dcb and when time is right and you request cli most likely they will hook you up. As for Amex just because its says expand your membershipdoesnt mean you wont get approved. Not every Amex app will be sp even if approved. Just keep in mind..

Congratulations on your Discover approval! You will need to wait a year before requesting a CLI. After your first year, there is a good chance that you will receive an auto-CLI if your account is used responsibly over the first year.

I would use it and wait for the auto CLI that usually shows up.

Very strong $9k SL from Discover, especially considering your highest limit prior was only $2k. It looks like they want to win your attention, which is a win for you. Congrats!

As far as achieving $10k, you could attempt a SL recon with a phone call but I wouldn't put much hope in it. If you had all >$10k limits already you might have some ground to stand on, but since they already crushed everything else you have there isn't much room to argue there as they did really well by you out of the gate.

If you use the card a lot and pay it off in full you could see an auto-CLI bringing you up to 5-figures inside your first year.
