Amex 3X CLI after 1yr & 1 day after 1st CLI request

I didn't think that it would happen! I had the card for a little over a year and 4 months when I got the CLI. I asked for a bit more than 3X and I was ready to close the page and accept another decline, but saw that they countered at 3X. 😄

I also hit them up for a rate reduction, which they approved.

Datapoint:

After the approval, I happened to open a CLI denial letter from them from a few wks before and the denial reason was that I was declined for a CLI within the past 90 days. I do believe that a chat rep also told me once that if you're declined, you can't get approved within x days.

Congrats on the CLI (and new apr)!

The max is 3x so never a point in requesting more than that - just request 3x. And it's 91 days from denial - perhaps you requested a day or two too soon? In any event - enjoy your new limit!

Congrats on the CLI and reduction!!! Did they give promo APR reduction, or permanent? Permanent aren't common occurance.

It's permanent, but it's also 20 or 21-something percent. Sow, it's a lowER rate, but definitely not low lol. But, it'll work in the event that I actually need to carry a balance.

That's good! You can still ask for promo later. They'll tell you if you have one. The promo usually knocks a few points off, and can be as long as a year.

That's good to know. So you can get a permanent apr reduction and then later request promo? If so, I'm gonna do that! Mine was like OP's, a permanent by a couple of points but still high.

They did a permanent on me in 2019, and had promo 2 months later. My BCP has had consistent promo APR reduction for years. Even automatically renewed once, which was very strange.
