Hello everyone, a little info for my recent credit card approval...

I just got a new Chase Sapphire card two weeks ago but it hasn't hit my credit report yet so I decided to do a new application and open an account with NICFCU. This credit union used to only be available to healthcare workers but is now open to anyone as long as they donate to an organization. It took about 4 days to get the checking account opened and it was a hard pull that's good for 60 days. I called after a week and finanlly got a response to the credit card application and was only approved for $5000. I emailed asking for a higher limit of at least $10k and it took 24hrs to get an answer from the underwritting team and they came back with $6,500...I accepted.

- Starting credit limit: $6,500
- APR: 9.99%
What CRs were pulled? Equifax (5 hard inquiries)
My FICO score: Fico 8 - 694 Equifax as of 4/06/2021
Why this card?:
- 0% introductory APR for the 1st 15 months after account opening on purchases & balance transfers
My relationship with NIHFCU... Just opened a new account when applying for credit card 4/06/21
My credit profile:
- Total revolving credit before this card: $40,700 (3 cc's)
- Utilization: <3%
- Oldest account: 16 yrs 6 mo
- Average age of open accounts: 7 yrs 1 mo
- Baddies: No collections, 3 paid charge offs, 5 accounts ever late (at least 2 yrs old)

NIHFCU seems to be aggressively expanding their product offerings to everyone. I haven't seen alot of information on this forum about this credit union, I think they are a hidden gem. lol They are a bit more conservative than Navy Federal but it's another great credit union to build a relationship with. For those looking to build credit, all of their unsecure credit cards come with 0% APR for 12-15 months and their secured cards graduate and offer some of the highest limits for secured card...I believe up to $25k which they return after 1 year. They have an emergency loan that is similar to a payday loan with no credit check just needing last couple of paystubs. They have line of credit / overdraft protection if you have a checking account with them up to $10k. They also have VitaLoan up $500 - $700 for personal needs with low apr, repayment terms up to 60 months and no payment for 90 days. Holidays loans up to $3,000. I was preapproved for an auto loan refinance and they have some really good rates. I will take them up on their offer of 3.7% @ 60 months and my initial credit pull is good for 60 days. I've heard that once you build a relationship with them and don't default on anything, they become more generous.

I have an auto loan with NIH and Personal Loan both at the lowest rates I was also offered a 15K Visa which I declined I recently refinanced my car loan to my credit union becuase you can not pay any of their products from outside banks and it has become very annoying to transfer money to them just to pay the account.

Yes for NIHFCU loan payments you have to transfer funds into your checking account 1st to be able to pay your loan. I plan to just set up automatic reoccuring zelle payments to that checking and my car note will come out on auto pay.

The good news is that only applies to loan products. If you have a credit card through them you actually can pay your bill from any outside bank.

As for loans....hopefully they update their website to be more versatile.
