Alright, that's it for a few months - Accepted PenFed offer, instant approval for PR @ $12.5K

After nothing new in a year and four months, I gave in and decided to "accept" the first "offer" I have had for a real CC. PenFed sent this via snail mail and also placed it in my offers within online banking in March. Having no new accounts reporting, and before I became an Egyptian, I decided to go for it.

One major derog, a $10.7k unpaid CO nearly 7 years old (written off, paid the taxes 2 years ago)

Member for 14 years, only savings and checking (This likely helped)

Signed, Sealed but not yet delivered.

That's it for awhile... what a day. I more than doubled my total CL's today.

Nice job . I think Penfed needs to be schooled on apr. They are horrible in giving most people, even with excellent credit atheir highest rate. Its very rare ive even read a low apr. Sure a pif person doesnt care but imagine get their low rate card and being hit with 16 or 17.99 apr. Not cool. Ah well, an approval is an approval even if it is Penfed😁

I agree, it could be very damaging. Especially mind boggling is that the prime rate is at historic low levels and interest rates on some CC's is still crazy high.

I have never in my life had a sussesful actual "spree". Luckily I have mostly unshakable lenders and am not chasing Chase. I will have 4 new accounts hitting my reports at once. Ah well, by fall I should be golden.

To add for the record. It was a Hard Pull on EQ despite being a solid interest rate mailer and in the offers section. No big deal, only #2 in a year. The did use F09 @ 729

I guess so. I did show some restraint with PSECU and PenFed, lurking in the weeds for 13 and 14 years respectively before applying for credit from them.

I've read of the pre-approvals from PenFed being SP and HP.

I was actually hoping they would pull since my EQ 09 has risen 30+ points since they pre-approved me. They also sent me a 20k preapproval for a personal loan at 9.9% based on that 695 F09 but I don't need that product.
