Approved for Macy's Amex upgrade!

After seeing so many on here successfully upgrading to the Amex version of this card, I decided, to try myself, I called in and requested this upgrade seeing as how I have had the Macy's store charge since 2009. I specifically asked if this upgrade was a soft pull, the agent said no, its a hard, I declined the upgrade seeing as how Im in the middle of a construction loan, but, to my surprise, I get an envelope in the mail this morning and inside was the AMEX upgrade and a 15% off coupon, so far there was no hard pulls on any of my 3 credit bureaus?? I called in to find out what my limit on the Amex is, its $6,000 and $5,300 on the store side! I find it interesting after I said no, they still honored the request and in doing so, they did a soft pull!

Awesome! I had a similar experience with my Macys store card on a CLI request. I called to request it and they said it would be a HP, which I declined. About a month later my CL went from $600 to $2,000. Now, I may try the same approach you did on the AMEX!

Make sure you use the card at least once. It will not show up on your reports until you use it. Also, be forewarned, the AMEX card has a different due date than your store card, and it reports as a totally new/separate credit line on your reports. Your reports will show the DSNB/AMEX with a 9/13 opening date, and a store card with your original 2009 openeing date.

Thank you for clarifying the billing system with the AMEX, I have no intentions of using this card until around christmas, Macy's always has great deals with coupons aound or close to the holiday season!

I just got approved for Macy's store acct a week ago and am planning to try for the upgrade to AMEX around the holidays. I want all the other TL's (8 incl. Macy's) I've opened somewhat recently to be at least 3 mos. old and generate at least 2 or 3 statements first.

Congrats! I opened up my Macy's account and got the store account in May. Told me $400 line, which after calling and verifying they told me $600 was my limit. A month later went on their chat and asked for an increase to $1,500 and they approved it. Now my credit isn't great. 3 old baddies on my report, and high (55%) UTIL so I was surprised considering Barclay is my high limit CC at $1,300. Tried to upgrade to AmEx and was told no. So again went on chat last week and asked for an increase just to see what they'd say and they bumped me up to $2,250. The card isn't even 6 months old! And I rarely shop at Macy's but I do like some of their things. Maybe I'll ask again at 6 month mark for CLI and upgrade to AmEx!

I had fun with Macy's and Bloomingdales about two weeks ago. Called to ask for CLI's on both and asked for Amex upgrades. Got everything I wanted Saw no hard pull, not even soft on my reports. Macy's from $300 to $1000, Bloom. from $800 to $1500 but I've only used both once and that's it. Was sooo happy about both Amexes!

Fantastic! I really wish I shopped at stores enough to justify a card so I can join in the fun, lol. No need for a new TL though. I am happy where I am at

I was denied to this upgrade a couple of months ago. I would try again now but wanna try for the Nordstrom card first.

They did HP me though when i tried.
