Disco IT Miles Approval $7000 CL

On a whim while checking my credit score on Discover's site, I saw a tempting "No Credit Pull Pre-Approve" for their cards. The last time I had tried, I was denied because I still had some bad actors on the report. Now with all of the collections paid off and everything aging, I decided to try again. This time I got pre-approved for the IT card with a choice of a few variations. I decided to go with the Miles one. They pulled my Experian, which was the only report that still had a collection (paid in full) on it.

Not sure which FICO score/version they pulled, but i'm in the mid 660-690 depending on the version. When I saw I was approved, i thought it would have been for a $1000 CL or something small like that. Nope. Got a whooping $7000. The next closest limit is $800 on Capital One. I am jumping for joy. I hope that this will really boost my scores.

What's interesting is that I had burned Discover in a bankruptcy about 8 years ago. The original account got deleted off the report later last year. I would of thought I was banned from them for life.

Do you have to wait 12 months for Discover before doing a CLI request?

We had some DPs from the past year or so that Discover wasn't approving CLIs the 1st year for new cardholders.

The last couple of months though, a few members were approved in under a year.

It's a SP so you can try, but I would wait at least a couple of months or so.

I couldn't even begin to explain their thinking behind it. If they were looking month over month, they would see a drastic decrease in baddies and lower account balances. As far I know they don't. I'm not complaining at all. It's great that I would now have a card to put all of my big monthly payments onto so I can rack up the rewards. I wonder how many miles it would take to travel around the world??

24,901 miles around the world. I couldn't help myself, I did have to google it though lol.
