Awesome NFCU Makes Good. Approved Amex More Rewards

Finally crawling up out of the post-DC ditch and Navy just gave me the lift needed.

Been with nRewards almost 10 months and no budge whatsoever. I had applied some months ago for another regular card but was told it was policy to wait out full 12 months or 1 year post DC7 before they can even will consider approving unsecured credit. The day after my 1 year post anniversary over this weekend i cold apped for a card i had with them for years at $20K always in good standing and perfect history.

I know they pull TU for new apps which is stuck at same low score for months until AAoA crosses 12 months. However my EQ FICO 9 is a nice 749.

After app it said received the app and is 24--48 hours decision. The very next day a email came with application is been approved.

I been holding off a long time not apping for diddly and just rotating using current cards and PIF. This one was on my special list.

Feels Wonderful being back with Navy with unsecured card again after years of good history before BK. Question to you good folks though. What becomes of the nRewards now? Do you close it? Will it ever go unsecured?

Congrats! I was in the same boat as you, but I waited for my Nrewards to graduate to unsecured first. It WILL graduate, just give it a little time. Navy always takes care of its people as long as we are not doing stupid things. You can only have 3 NFCU credit cards, so just let it simmer and wait your 91/3 for your CLI on your new AMEX.

@DivideByZero- Thanks so much friend to offer that info on nRewards. Of course it's a breath of fresh air to be out of the doghouse with the unsecured now, but honestly i had no pointers on where to turn with nRewards Secured after this. Really appreciate your reply.

Grats on getting back with an unsecured card

As far as the nrewards if it doesnt graduate by the 1 yr mark and you have no use for it then I would just close it out, its done its job.

Thanks @gdale6- Huge burden lifted that's for sure. It's always been a favorite CU account for years. Appreciate your timeline info so i'll see what develops for it in the upcoming months. Would really like to see it unsecure and maybe it will. I used it every month and PIF without a balance ever reporting except to NFCU as activity. Cheers
