Citi Custom Cash Card Approval $19,000 😬

So, this post is about a week late, but still wanted to contribute on some DPs.

In researching the TY flexibility of the card (because I needed another Citi card like hole in my head 😂) -- I figured if denied, still a good DP on the current Citi UW criteria. And, since PCs were slowly coming, I decided to try for a new card vs PC. But, it's often known that timing is always of the essence, especially when it comes to new accounts/inquiries, etc. So, I went for it and it went into pending. I did not call. Then, I received a call from their fraud/verification department to verify ID stuff (which Citi cards I had, balance and payments on those, public record items, etc.). Since the agent mentioned I was in the 'upper' threshold of overall Citi exposure, the application would have to be referred to a Sr UW. Okies. I mentioned that I was open to any CL or moving things around if need be.

Later on another phone call, they confirmed it can be approved and I could reallocate a portion of the limit and I had until tomorrow. So, potentially I might leave it as is (given the monthly $500 category cap), or I can move some of it but I haven't decided yet.

At any rate, they pulled Experian (no double pulls). FICOs in the low 800s (both 8/9 versions) + lots of new accounts in the past 12 months (around 8) and inquiries (~7) 😬. So, as I mentioned in the Citi Custom Cash mega thread, profile determines the results, and other than the potential exposure ceiling, they didn't seem to mind the new accounts and/or inquiries in the past year. I have been with Citi since the early 90's. This will be the 11th Citi legacy card.

@FinStar congrats on your new card there!

I'm actually kinda jealous of your neat little credit line. Me and the wife with Citi they always give us weird odd ball approvals whether it's a new card CL or CLIs. They must love pushing my OCD I guess 🤦😂

I got about half of that, but I also got $200 that's driving me nuts 😐

Now, if you could just pretend SL is $19,200.00, I'd really appreciate it

That is an impressive limit; I think you made a good move choosing this card, it is on my wanted list for next year.

Dang.. Nice approval @FinStar ! That is without any CL reallocation? Knocked it out of the park if that is your initial approval. Have investments with Citi as well? Mind sharing total exposure with Citi now? Congrats again! Still suprised on that SL as shared best friends approval of 9800 and he is a HNW person and excellent credit he does have a CITI DC at 50k, but doubt he is anywhere near their ceiling for his $.

Thanks @CreditCuriosity! correct, that's without a CL realocation which I found odd/surprising unless there was a chunky finger somewhere on their end, but I won't ask 😂. Yes, farily decent investments and deposit relationship with Citi. The core/legacy limits have fluctuated over time (reallocated some in the past couple years), but just recalling from memory (I don't have my db in front of me at the moment), overall exposure is >$300K (I think), which includes DSNB and Citi Retail as well.

Sounds like they're definitely messing with your OCDs Yeah, I don't know why some profiles get approved with round, whole numbers while others get the odd amounts 🤷🏼‍♂️
