AMEX BCP Approval with Surprising DP's

I already have 5 Amex cards Gold, Green, BCE, Hilton Honors and Schwab Investor. I've been wanting the BCP for a while but was getting the expand your membership message. DP's exp fico 8 671, 8 inq. Baddies which include lates and unpaid chargeoffs all close to 5 years old with perfect payment history since. No BK. I spend maybe 2k per mo on all my Amex cards combined and never run a balance. I usually pay several times/mo. Income 82k. I've obtained all these cards in about 11mo. I took a chance with the dreaded expand your membership message and was instantly approved for the BCP with a 5k cl. NO HP! I thought this might help others since everything I've read would indicate a denial or a 1k cl at best. Amex must like something about my file/history with them .

Expand your membership message not always a denial or hp. I think you need to be prepared for both though. After they are one year old, I plan on cancelling my gold and green cards because I'm not traveling like I thought I would and I can't justify the annual fee. My new BCP will pick up the grocery category.

Thanks! 6 for now. Unless I get really good retention offers I'll be cancelling the gold and green after each is one year old.

You can currently only have 5 Amex credit cards but you can have 10 more Amex cards that are listed as charge cards. Cards like the Gold, Platinum and Green aren't included in the credit card category.
