Walking to the Garden, tripped and fell on another card!

Since starting my credit building journey in October 2020, I have acquired 5 Cards. A BofA secured for $300, now unsecured and at $2600. A Capital one platinum now bucketed at $400, NFCU More Rewards Amex $20k, Discover it $11k, Amex BCP $5k.

I figured that's a pretty good 1st year run. I was meandering my way to the Garden for a couple year stay, and darn it, tripped on a Capital One pre-approval and got a Quicksilver one for $5k! Good thing the Garden is a close walk cuz that's gonna be my new home for a while!!

since your Cap1 Plat isnt yet a year old, i wouldn't count it as bucketed yet

i had one that went from $300 - $6950 over the years, before i closed it

Thanks for the input. Because I do have some nice useful cards now, the past few months I usually just by coffee and/orca tank of gas on the Platinum. Before tjat I was running $1k - $1.5k through it hoping it would go up. But the other cards were just so much more practical to even look at the Platinum anymore. We shall see...

if the Plat isnt significantly older than the rest - you can cancel it and not pay the AF

because of the other 4 with fairly solid CL, you wont miss it much

There is no AF on my Cap One Platinum. So at this point I'm planning on keeping it open. As others have pointed out, since it's not a year old yet it may not be bucketed as I thought. Next month will be a year so we will see.

That trip and being close to home is just hillarious. Congrats. I have a similar journey story but have to wait to spill the beans when I apply for two more credit cards. Coming soon. Great job on your building journey.
