Amex 3X CLI - amateur style

If you told me a year ago I'd have a credit card, or multiple credit cards in the tens of thousands of $$, I would have been on the floor laughing!

In less than a year I improved my credit from sub 600 scores to low 700's (fico of course), six credit cards with nice usable limits, walking into a dealership to purchase a vehicle two weeks ago KNOWING my auto scores were in the 730's (had NFCU pre approval check with me) and the dealership OFFERING to beat NFCU, which they did (< 4% interest for used), is a great feeling and what having good credit is all about!

So anyway, I opened an Amex BCP 63 days ago today with a $5k SL. Due to my son starting college, I had tuition, new laptop, dorm room decorations and essentials, everyday spending, groceries of course (or why get the BCP!) And some plane tix and hotel for a getaway next month. Since getting the card I've run a paltry (lol) $12k through the card, all PIF weekly.

This morning I said it's now or never, if Amex doesn't give me something for that kinda spend, they never will. So I hit CLI button for $15k and....INSTANT APPROVAL!

Very nice. Love the data points ("paltry" - no poultry for you, one year!). And congrats on the son going to college. I remember those days (of me going to college). 35 years ago and it seems like last week!

Enjoy the spend. Enjoy the now even better credit utilization. Enjoy the FICO score increase (if any).

Perfect example of being a member of these forums and having the cajones - and I quote - to just go for it! Which is not always the best idea. But that is why we spend so much time in these forums (at least, why I do): so we are better educated consumers of credit and have a - hopefully - a better idea of when to go for it (and when not to go for it).
