Surprise Amex approval after denial last month

Amex BCP approved! SL unknown.

I've been apping and posting all day, but to recap:

BlockFi denied

PenFed approved for $7500

Venmo approved for $5000

Barclays Red AAviator CLI approved from $7500 to $8500

Amex BCP approved with unknown SL

Now off to the garden for at least a few months!

Congrats on the approval.

For the 3 cards I was approved for this month, I was able to know the card number and the SL after approval. They should send you a link to do that in the approval email.

Well, now here's one for the books. I called Amex to find out the SL (I was expecting it to be on the very low end) and they told me I was approved for $15K. Knock me over with a feather! To put this in context, I was denied for the Amex Gold 3 weeks ago (sole reason: bankruptcy) and was denied recon as well last week.

I'll never understand how the credit gods work. BTW there has been no change in my EX 08 score of 702 since the Gold card application.

Yep! Didn't start out well with the BlockFi denial but then the approvals came in a flood! Started the day with $48K total credit lines and ended with $77K. Can't ask for more! And it doesn't look like all those inquiries have hurt my scores any.

@NYC_Fella - let me say "Dayummmmmm"~! that's a nice SL my brother. I'm past the 5yr+1m discharged back on 7/30/21 and itching like "pookey" from new jack city saying "it keeps calling man". Anyhow, based on your other posts you went BK7 discharged a few yrs ago and just barely crossed the coveted "5+1" rule post BK and never burned AMEX.

Any other DPs you can share on this amazing win? If i'm reading this correctly, is AMEX getting back into pre-pandemic mode and allowing themselves to be more reasonable? Nonetheless, a huge win for NYC i would supposed your next move is 3xCLI @ 91 days?

I'm flummoxed myself. I've seen people with profiles similar to mine get stuck with $1K limits and how did I get so lucky? Like the song goes: "Somewhere in my youth or childhood I must have done something good." LOL.

I tried to provide what DPs I thought were relevant, but here's a summary:

BK7 filed 9/6/16 (discharged 12/21/16)
3 IIBs (Citi, CapOne, HSBC) and the same 3 delinquencies pre-BK
Stellar record since BK filing
Current FICO 8 scores hovering around 700
Utilization under 5% on $47K (which is now $78K as of yesterday)
A bunch of crappy subprime accounts closed voluntarily
Auto loan with CapOne about 60% paid off

Nicely done. You have an excellent rebuild going there my friend. That card is on my wish list too. Congratulations on PenFed as well. Keep PenFed in mind if you ever want a car loan, they gave me a lower rate than Capital One and Capital One was really good. So nice when your hard work pays off.
