AMEX Platinum Approval + Interesting Data Points

I've wanted the AMEX Platinum for a very long time. Logged into the AMEX site today and got a popup for the AMEX Platinum & a 100,000 point SUB. I was wondering why they were showing me this popup--maybe marketing? Or were they actually scouting me out? I clicked on it and it said I was preapproved! I completed the signup process and received the congratulations message. My biggest credit card boss battle has finally ended (prior one being the Apple Card--Apple Card is SO hard to get for whatever reason).

Let me explain why this was odd. My Experian FICO continues to lag behind my other FICO scores. It's just sitting on 655. Generally you want to be 670+ according to a lot of data points on here especially for AMEX preapprovals. My Transunion is 700, but AMEX doesn't look at Transunion which is why this is all odd to me. I pay my AMEX Delta Platinum in full every single month with strong spending patterns, and I do have a decent salary, so I am 100% certain that definitely helped. I do have some old charge offs that are paid, but they will be falling off my reports soon. No bankruptcies or collections. So for those of you that really want an AMEX Platinum and are rebuilding your credit like I have been--keep checking the AMEX site! If you have been doing all the right things then you may be in for a surprise!

Congrats! Do you check on computer or mobile phone? I never seem to get the pop ups but I usually use AMEX mobile app

I check both. But I've been seeing the popups on the computer. Computer is your best bet.

Congrats! It's a great card. Make sure you do the hotel registrations and enrollment in the benefits lists. Makes the AF easier to chew!

Congrats on the AMEX Platinum approval ! I'm sure that your existing relationship / good history with your Delta AMEX was a big positive, just goes to show that scores matter but are only one of the factors taken into consideration.

I also frequently get approval / pre-qual pop-ups when I log into AMEX from my desktop, haven't ever seen any on mobile.
