X1 Credit Card $33K Approval!

I have been quite interested in the X1 Credit Card and joined the waitlist maybe a year ago but was over 150,000 on the list. I watched Dave Hanson's YouTube video about his approval for $50K and tried his referral link which he said he was contacting X1 to get it opened up for more referrals. Despite the comments from many who said the code was not working, I tried it and it worked fine! I have 4X points for the next month due to the referral link.

I won't have my physical card until later this week but have already been using the card via Apple Pay and online via a number of virtual cards for different merchants that I have setup. They also make it easy to add any virtual cards to Apple Pay as well. I had my wife add a virtual card to Apple Pay as a test on her phone and that also worked. It is a really nice interface and setup. In order to apply, I had to link my bank account via Plaid and then was instantly approved with no hard pull for $33,000! This is my second highest credit line now. Like Dave Hanson, I am considering this card as my "everything else" card. Redeeming for cash back yields 0.7 cents per point as has been said in other threads and redeeming against the selected brands they support yields 1 cent per point. So 4X is 4% return which is quite impressive. At the 4X rate for straight cash back, this would be 2.8% cash back. The standard return is 2X but if I spend over $15K in a year, all purchases will get 3X points for the whole year (or 4X for the months where I do a referral). The 2X straight cash back rate would be 1.4%, the 3X straight cash back rate would be 2.1%. All in all, I am pretty impressed.

Congrats!! I really liked the whole application experience. Would be amazing if other banks shifted towards this style. I'm curious on how the CLI "will increase over time" will work, but we'll see soon I guess
