Kirtland FCU - $10,000 Visa

Hey FicoFam,

I am dropping in to share some belated approvals from the last couple months.

I started this mini app spree in November 2021 with a successful increase to $10k on my Mountain America FCU Visa. I was not so lucky with my NFCU Cash Rewards app, which came back denied due to max NFCU exposure. I was feeling some type of way so that same day I decided to call up my newest credit union (Kirtland FCU) and apply for a platinum credit card. The underwriter pulled my Transunion report, and just asked about the NFCU inq earlier that day. They were curious if I was approved , told them I was not and we shared a brief laugh. She prceeded to tell me "Dont worry we will get you taken care of".

She asked my income ($79,000) no POI needed because of my score 709 / DTI 31% .

I asked for $5,000, she put me on hold and came back with a counter offer of $10,000 @ 12%.

I was very pleased and proceeded to accept the offer, she emailed me a docu sign, and overnighted me the card. This card is a pretty awesome no frills Visa with a couple notable features: APR for purchases and cash advances are the same, and there is no FTF, which makes sense due to this credit union catering mainly to airforce members and their famlies here in NM. This credit union has been really good to me, I joined thru dealer financing when I purchased my new Chevy Trail Boss in August 2021. They were the ONLY bank willing to loan me $65,000 to purchase my truck with an awesome 3.99 rate.

I followed up this approval with one more application about a week later.

I called the smallest of my 4 credit unions (State Employees Credit Union NM) to inquire about a credit card.

I have been a member here since 2018, they pull Experian for all products.

I asked for $5,000, they countered with $2,000 @ 11.25% for the platinum rewards card, which I accepted.

They DID NOT pull my credit in any type of way that day / no hp or sp because they were able to reuse the HP from 58 days prior on my personal loan approval from them for 10k lol. She said when loan is paid off it will free up some credit to request an increase on my Visa.

They did give me one condition before I accepted: No new credit cards for the next 12 months. I feel this is fair as I have more than enough cards for my needs and profile, and will now continue to focus energy on growing my existing lineup of cards, and maybe try for that 2nd NFCU card again in 2023.

Sounds like a Costco CU kirkland or is that Sam's? Lol. Seriously congrats on some nice pulls. You have to have real will power to go 12 months with no other credit cards especially if you are on myFico. Enjoy

@AverageJoesCredit That's what I initially thought of too haha. That would be really cool if Costco had its own credit union lol . Kirtland FCU was named for its field of membership that caters to airman and their families of Kirtland Airforce Base located here in Albuquerque, NM. Sorry for the delayed reply but I am trying to make an effort to be more active on MyFico, it's fun and I learn so much!
