BCE Approved!

One goal card achieved.

I completed my credit rebuild last year and finally hit 670-680 across most FICOs last month, which has given me some newfound courage to apply for things when I see that I'm pre-qualified. I've also been in the market for a new car for some time and found out that PenFed's draft checks are good for 90 days, so I doubled up and finally applied for an auto loan from them and simultaneously pulled the trigger on the BCE after seeing a pre-qual for it.

Instant approval from PenFed for my ask ($26k @ 5.49%) and instant approval on the BCE at an SL of $1000. I'm not even a little bit bummed at the SL. I'm just stoked to see my hard work finally pay off after a grueling 14 months of chipping away at debt. I can also now ditch my subprime cards to boot. As soon as I find a Subaru WRX that I like, I'm gonna go pick that up as well. Might even call in to PenFed as ask if they can use the same EQ 09 HP for one of their CCs.

Big, big thanks to these forums and r/credit for teaching me the ways. I feel like an actual adult now. Off to the garden! o7

Three chargeoffs-2 Cap One (~$800), 1 TBOM ($1300) all paid in full but not going anywhere til 2026.

No other credit products whatsoever at the time. Only things holding my scores up were closed CCs/PLOC from NFCU. I couldn't get approved for a n y t h i n g at the time.

Congrats on the BCE and your rebuild. Make sure to push spend through that card, PIF, and read up on Amex CLIs. That card can grow quickly. Mine started at 1500 and was at 24k a year later.
