FINALLY in with NFCU!

I've been eyeing getting into NFCU for years and my middle daughter finally got her retired Marine step grand dad on my wifes side to locate his discharge papers (from 1961!) and joined. Finding this out I interrogated her for the necessary info to family loophole my way in. Membership approved this morning, and More Rewards this evening! TU pulled (Fico8 - 804). With Keypoint CU about to hit my file with a new car loan and $20K Visa, I figured I'd go for one more dip in the card pool. (Did the pre-qual, everything showed up, but I've learned from here not to go after the Flagship as your first card.)

With $25k out the door, you would have been easily approved for the Flagship. I don't get why it's widely suggested to not go for that card as a first. I mean if your profile, DTI & income meet their guideline I see no reason they won't approve. Unless there's some sort of internal rule that specifically prohibits approving the Flagship as a first card. Congrats on this massive approval!

Congratulations on getting in with Navy and the $25K More Rewards approval out of the gate! I've been pleased with their banking and hope to get a CC with them later this year.

This is not correct though. Flagship does have stricter underwriting and there are those who easily meet the 5k requirenents but still get rejected. There is no easily when it comes to this card and the datapoints support not recommendingthis card as ones first. .

Congrats @ChargedUp why toil a few months or a year to build up your limit just tell them you are Charged One ! Lol

@AverageJoesCredit does it mean no one who applies, gets approved for the Flagship as their first card? Like it's always a flat denial. I kinda find that absurd they will approve $25k out the door on one card but can't apply the same with the Flagship (all things being equal). I wonder what their rationale is.
