Chase SOUTHWEST Rapid Rewards Plus APPROVED over 5 24.

Hello everyone! First time poster here.

I was surprisingly instantly approved today for the Chase Southwest Plus card with the offer of a companion pass and 30K points. I'm currently at 10/24 until August. They pulled Experian at 715 1% Util 30 active accts 1 paid collection 3.5y average age of accts 10 new accounts in 24 months 0 at 6months. Approved for 20,000! SL!!

No pre-approved offers or stars. Just cold apped. I do have a checking and a Marriott credit card with Chase for about 2 years. I use my Marriott Bonvoy quite often for about 2K a month and always pay in full.

So happy as this was one of my goal cards and travel on SW a lot.

Hope these DPs help someone over 5/24 trying to decide to pull the trigger.

Congratulations. I've tried the ole 5/24 go around and have been declined each time. I see you have no inquiries in the 6mos prior to applying. Maybe that's you skated around the rule. Have no clue as to why, but congratulations! Just take it !

I feel like the 5/24 rule seems to apply more to their bank issued cards rather than the co-branded ones. I just got the Amazon Prime one at 8/24. Congratulations!

There are some DP floating around on some of the travel blogs that Chase is loosening up on the the co-branded cards such as Southwest, United, Amazon Visa as it relates to 5/24.

I can attest to this. Checked CFF acct and there's cc offers(not exactly preapproved ones i guess) including CSP and United: and SW airline $69 had a different button on it, almost like an invite. credit journey has 25 inquiries and 5 accts in 2 yrs(credit wise for cap one has 6 inquiries though, is that confined to TU).

But since i don't really use sw(live in LA. although i got to use it when frontier got cancelled at mcallen, texas, it was nice), don't really need it. actually foolishly replied to mail offer last Fall and got rejected lol.

congrat... did you have any new account and any inquiry in 6/12 months prior to the approval of this card??

Welcome to My Fico forums, @Anonymous, and congrats on your Chase Southwest approval!

@SEAlifer, I think you got mixed up. Isn't that Alaska Airlines card from Bank of America, not Chase? Bank of America has completely different "rules" that Chase's 5/24. If you're an account holder, they'll approve you if you're under 7/12; non-account holders if under 3/12. If most of those 8 were outside of 12 months, that explains the approval.

Yes. And I meant to type the Amazon Prime card as that is what I got.
