BestBuy CC Approval - BK7

Just got approved for the BestBuy store card at 2yrs to the day post BK7 filing or 20 months post DC. Approval was not instant, had to call in to complete a security verification via text. $2k SL and wasn't given the choice of the Visa or Store card which is fine anyways. I had a BBY card that was included in the BK. In between my $300 Macys approval and now BBY, it appears the seasoning period to get approved for Citi retail cards is 18months post BK-7 DC and it doesn't matter whether or not they were IIB. This is info provided to me firsthand by the credit analyst on the Macys side.

I'm not too sure citi retail cards are easier to get 2 years post bk7. they still wont approve me for a Home Depot card and they werent included in my bk. in fact i had 2 cards with them back in the 2000's 8500 each which i closed in 2010 with a zero balance paid off.

18 months sounds about right for citi retail cards as far as I can recall with all the DPs here.

Now, citi Legacy cards though are a different breed with 7 years if IIB!

Speaking from my experience with them and some DPs as well, which of course can change anytime according to the economic climate.

Yeah it actually is, I mean I'm a living proof. I was approved for the Macys card about 3 days ago and they were burned badly. Now today I get the BBY card. The funny thing is I tried the prequal for the HD card and got nothing. They pulled TU for BBY and EXP for Macys. If you're at least 18 months post discharge and have a need for either card, give it a shot. You'll most likely be approved provided everything else on your credit is good @SUPERSQUID

There could be something in my profile they dont like. i really dont need or want anymore cards at this time, in fact i want to close some but i dont want to rock the boat right before im about to ask navy for a cli in a few weeks. i hit the prequals just out of curiosity. i burned synch in my bk7 and surprizingly enough they approve me for a bunch of their cards for 1500 sl high interest. i get a fair amont of preapproved mailers but in the shredder they go.

I am 2 years 3 months post bk7 dc.

started out years ago, past the 2 year mark, every year or two u can app for a CLI aim high u never know.. also u can app for a HD card if u wanna
