Hey all thought I would mention this since it's pretty rare. I got approved for the gold card with a $1750 POT limit with a 628 score. Have 6-7 collections from 3 years ago that are unpaid, but also a lot of paid accounts and a mortgage in good standing for over 12 years. Was REALLY shocked to get this. Seems like they are loosening up credit a little bit so don't be afraid if your score isn't that grea.t

Thanks for sharing your info, obviously scores are only part of the approval and UW criteria for charge cards generally is less stringent than revolvers, but they did give you a POT limit so that's a positive too

I think Amex Gold is the best card for rebuild that includes great benefits and rewards! Wish I realized this back in rebuilding days instead of predatory starter cards that I got!

Curious: Did you cold app or prequalify beforehand?

That’s pretty awesome. Did not know they were that gracious. But like one said here, app’s are way more than just the score.
