Loving NFCU!

On Thursday Navy Federal approved me for their cash rewards visa for $4,000!!! I have 3 credit card charge offs and 4 collections that I am currently working on getting paid and deleted. I am still in shock. I got the postcard in the mail with my acceptance code and figured I'd give it a shot thinking the max they would give me (IF they approved me for anything at all) would be $500. I opened my account in February and since then have opened a SaveFirst certificate account and a $500 secured loan. They did deny me though for a $1500 personal loan in March. I do not know my FICOs but my FAKOs are 529, 552, and 613 (I know I shouldn't rely too much on those scores but it's all I know for now). Thinking that I was years away from any prime card and knowing I need to start using a card to up my score, I applied and was approved for the Credit One gas rewards card last week...ugh, I know. I still haven't gotten the Credit One card but when I do, I plan on NOT activating it and cutting that crap up!

I've been reading these forums for quite a while (I'm on here every day) and this is only my second post but I'm so very excited about this so I thought I'd share with everyone.

be sure to call and close credit one, you can't just not activate it.

Wow, thanks for that bit of info! What about the annual fee that they charge right away? I won't be responsible to pay that will I? I've been reading such horror stories about Credit One, I would hate to end up paying $75 for a card that I'm not even going to activate.

no but keep an eye out on statements and make sure you see $0 before you forget about the account.

I hear (not with credit one per say) but people close an account and then don't open mail because they assume junk until they get a collection notice or something!

call an close, then call back in a week or so and check for the AF reversed out and the account being $0 and closed.

also, i don't know if i'm pressing my luck but i applied for the checking line of credit this afternoon. i got the review in process message and just called to see if they had a definitive "approved" or "denied" for me. neither one, yet. the rep said to try calling back again tomorrow.

just checked my account and they declined me for the cloc. oh well....i kinda knew it wasn't going to happen. i'm still pretty stoked about the cc approval though so after at least 6 months of using it and after paying off my secured loan i'll reapply. hoping you hear better news!

thanks. i'm bummed they didn't even counter offer either. when i app'd i requested a $10,000 line knowing i would never get it but hoping they'd counter with 5000, 1000, 500...something! oh well....

you're so patient! i think i went a whole 4 hours before i called to ask what was going on! and i called them today to get my card overnighted, lol. i can't stand waiting. the rep did tell me that reviews were averaging 48 hours right now though so hopefully they'll let you know SOON!
