So, after a rash of recent sp cli's and some decent starting limits on new cards, I decided that credit cards will now be kind of a hobby... I have more available credit than I can ever use with my decidedly middle class income, so I figure I'll just have some fun with it. First app - x1 card.... stumbled into an invite code on Facebook and applied. Plaid connected to my bank, but still had to submit bamk statements. After doing so, denied.... unable to verify income. Weird, as I can't remember the last time I was denied on an app, and I was accurate with my income on the app. (59k) chalked it up to x1 just being weird with their process, though I was a little mad. At least it was just a soft pull.

App 2 - citizens bank. Apped for the 6 months of 10% off on gas, and because the card is physically green (the hobby part) Pretty fully expected instant approval. Used partial extra household income as that is allowable per their app. Sent for review..... called 3 days later to check, and the rep said gratulations, you're approved. I said good! Long pause...... what is the limit? ......$500.....pretty upset by that one, as my last approval, about a month and a half ago, was for over 10k. Oh well... I'll take my $300 cash back on gas, then decide whether to close the account. If nothing else, I do like the appearance of the card..... Now I'm reeling a bit with my new "hobby", doubting myself, wondering how I managed a toy limit (the lowest I've ever received) with 790-820 fico 8 and 9 scores.

Well, I decided on one more app. Chase Amazon visa. I'm at 6/24, and was going to wait until the citizens card reported to purposefully be at 7/24 just for the dp. However, another user here scared me a bit into not waiting. Checked the prequal page, and still showed pre-qualified... so apped. Same income as the citizens app, and.... instant approval, 14k sl.... my highest sl.....it's amazing to me that these 3 outcomes could occur in a week.....and, I guess now I'm going to cool it for probably 6mo. Then I may try the Evergreen or the navy cash rewards (green motif)

Wow, @CreditKick. A denial, $500 limit and a $14K limit all in one short app spree, including your lowest and highest-ever limits?!? That is bizarre!

Congrats on your very nice Chase approval, though, and thanks for those data points. The X1 doesn't surprise me since they seem particular sometimes if they can't get the data they want from your account. The Citizen's $500 is more of a puzzler to me, so I'm wondering if it will grow given some time?? It might be worth a shot. I was very disappointed with a $1K approval from Capital One but I later product-changed it into a Quicksilver and it has grown to $27K. But I have also closed low-limit approvals also.
