WF Autograph approval. Not great, but sharing my DP

Over the last few years I've really cleaned up my credit, no bad marks just high balances, high utilization, and a bad personal loan through Lending Club. I got my utilization down to 3-4% (was pushing 50% at 1 point) and paid off that ridiculous loan I took out 4-5yrs ago. I'd managed to get my FICO8 to 780, probably the highest it's ever been.

Anyway, until a few weeks ago I had only applied for 1 card in the last 2yrs. Had 1 recent car loan inquiry, maybe 3 inq in the last 2yrs on my reports, that's it. Payment history 100%, 0 negatives. Oldest account 13yrs, average age was about 5yrs.

So a few weeks ago I took a shot at the Chase Southwest card, wanting the 75k points SUB. Was my first app in a long time, approved at 15k. Then I went after a Citi Diamond, approved at 15k. Then I went after a Chase Freedom Unlimited, approved at 10k. I ended up applying and getting approved for 6 cards within 30min. The last one I tried was a WF card, forget which 1 and got a denial.

A few days after I found out about the Chase Amazon Prime card with the $200 SUB. It said pre-approved but obviously I over the 5/24 and I was sceptical. Denied of course.

Then a few days ago heard about the WF Autograph. I had no pre-approval offers listed with WF. So I've been debating and debating and finally figured why not.

Approved at $2500, $1000 for immediate use if adding to digital wallet. Unsure of the APR, probably 21-23%. Experian Fico8 was 761. I' m not 100% sure how the lingo works here with the x/6, x/12, x/24, are those new accounts over 6-12-24mo? If so it was like 6/6 (more like 6/6 days 😂), 6/12, 7/24. Had 9-10 inquires also.

I didn't even expect to get approved at all. I have another WF account (Cash Wise) with a $5k limit, but rarely use. This will be my last app for a long, long time. And I plan on closing a few of my lower tier cards.

Congrats for getting approved for the Autograph after a previous denial! For people with at-least-decent credit scores but a lot of recent activity (new accounts, inquiries, etc.), WF seems to be approving with lower SLs for the Autograph card where they might have given denials in the past.

They're revamping the credit card portion of their business. I suspect they're trying to get the Autograph into as many peoples' hands as possible, and clients like you help to bring up the average FICO score for users of this card.

Thick file & high score, no aggressive credit seeking(app in 2 yrs) surely helped?

The Citi Diamond Preferred was the 2nd app I ran that day, after the Chase Southwest.
