Harris Teeter MC and Elan MCP (Visa) same-day approvals with thin file!

Background:

I've been a bit late getting into the credit card game - I'm 31 yo but only got my first non-AU credit card at the end of last year (see stats at the bottom of this post). But for the past year or so I've been on a quest to take greater interest in and control of my personal finances, and part of that has been devising a long-term credit card reward plan. I'm not going to go into full detail about that right now, but long-story short: I've been looking at these 2 cards for a few months, as they seem to be a fantastic way to cover a lot of gaps with 5% (and some 3%) cashback rewards while I work/wait towards a BoA Platinum Honors setup late next year. And building a relationship with US Bank while I have very few recent new accounts seemed paramount - I imagine I can get a CCC for 5% on groceries later this year or next. I have pretty low spend as a single person right now, so the $3k mobile wallet and $6k gas/dining limits on the HT card are totally fine (especially since the limits reset based on calendar year and I've applied in July). And the MCP covers utilities which very few cards do, and 5% for another category of my choosing (furniture stores for my upcoming move, entertainment if I know I want to buy concert tickets, electronic stores if I plan to buy a PC or new phone, streaming if nothing else [I'll have FiOS after my move, so taking their ACH "discount" for internet]).

Application timeline / details:

I applied for the HT MC this morning before lunch. I plugged in all the info on the form (including my VIC card number, which initially had some nice tech hiccups of its own after getting it this weekend but that's a separate issue), waited 15 seconds, and got instantly approved! Got a $5k CL. Good enough for me! Of note: I am in the Harris Teeter footprint, so that's part of why I chose to apply for this card instead of any of the other Kroger variants (especially since there seem to be more DPs of late of people being deined for being out of footprint).

I ate my lunch, but during it got an email from CreditKarma telling me to consider some mortages because it looked like a mortgage lender hard pulled me. I was slightly concerned that the HP showed that fast and maybe I shouldn't have had lunch before applying for the MCP, in case that gets me a denial for now being 1/6 and 2/12!

I got back to my PC after lunch, applied for an MCP (through Spectra CU - relatively local [though I don't meet their membership reqs] and more importantly, a pretty card!), and got the same result as with the HT MC - instant approval at $5k CL! I guess either the HP from 30 minutes prior either didn't show up when Elan pulled, or they re-used the HT pull, or they just didn't mind it.

I'm posting this partly to celebrate, but also partly because I hope the confirmation of a HP showing on my report (as evidenced by the CreditKarma email) between 2 same-day USB/Elan apps - yet it not turning the 2nd app into a denial - might be a useful novel data point for this forum.

Please let us know if a second hard pull shows up. I know about the same-day 2 Elan cards with one hard pull trick but didn't know you could mix-and-match with Brother US Bank too.

Following up on this:

Both cards just came in the mail today! That reminded me of your comment here, so I checked my hard pulls and it seems that I did get 2 separate hard pulls - one from Elan and one from US Bancorp. I'm guessing it's because they're still different companies rather than the ~45 minutes between my applications, but I can't be certain.
