PenFed Plat Approval - $12.5k

Hey all,

Had a couple drinks and decided it was time to pull the trigger on this one. Been eyeing it for a while and I think this is a good way to end of a string of CLI's I've gotten recently.

Had to unlock my EQ but the site must be having maintenance, so I called. That was cumbersome, and the automated EQ guys voice almost put me to sleep, but I got it done.

No prior relationship with PenFed. Pulled EQ and approved for $12,500 @ 17.99%

I see this under the 'applications' tab on the web.

But I've downloaded the app and it only shows my savings account they automatically opened for me. I'm sure it'll show as an account of mine sooner or later - do I have to activate the card before seeing it in my online accounts?

Excited to have this card - off to the garden I go (famous last words)

Congrats on the PenFed Platinum 12.5K approval!

I'm a PenFed member but haven't applied for any cards yet. However, when I joined it took about 24-48 hours for my new checking/savings accounts to update and show in the system. So maybe that's the case with the new card account. In the meantime, maybe you could try logging off and back on from the site and in the App.

Thanks @Stealth-1! Yeah, I tried it all - even tried logging on from a different machine. I'm just guessing it's due to it being the middle of the night on labor day

Very true. It's also during a time when PenFed could be doing site maintenance so some parts could be down - but at least the system's instant approval was a good sign. Either way hopefully it will show up within 24-48 hours.

I wonder if penfed ever gives a starting interest other than 17.99 ? both of my cards started at 17.99 and every approval ive read has been 17.99 .

Congrats on the approval! With PenFed, it takes a few or couple days for the card to automatically show up on your online banking. This usually happens after the card has been funded and a number generated. I'm eyeing this one as well as to complete my PenFed lineups.

I've definitely thought about it... Still thinking about it actually haha!

If I'm correct, the max line of credit PenFed will extend a customer, via credit cards, is $50k across all cards - with a cap of $25k per card.

I'm THINKING about app'ing for the Power Cash on the same HP, using them both for 6 months and taking another HP requesting a CLI on them.

Then again, I did JUST say I'm off to the garden

Frozen EQ and no attempt of a second pull. I'll see what the email says. Fingers crossed it's a similar outcome

Yes, hopefully. Those pesky manual reviews card issuers do can sometimes be a blessing, and sometimes a curse. A blessing because it can often result in an approval and/or higher SL that might otherwise be a denial and/or lower SL. A curse because it can potentially receive additional unwanted UW scrutiny. At least it wasn't an auto denial. And I like your thinking...nothing ventured, nothing gained. And this way if you also get approved for the Power Cash, both PenFed card accounts will age nicely together. 👍

Anyone with a PenFed account have trouble connecting your external bank account?

I'm needing to fund my account - I think that's why my app is under review. The account was opened with my Plat but has a -$5 balance. Every time I try to link my accounts using their 3rd party company (Finicity) - through the website and the app - I get through the process then instead of asking which of my accounts to link, it puts me right back to the beginning.

Zelle can't be used for the first 65 days of account opening.
