Automatic CLI After 107 Days on Chase Freedom Unlimited®

The card started with a measly 1100.00 CL likely because they were included in a BK back in 2010. I Have had a Discover Card with 12,500 CL for years. I actually had to call them to get it approved because they rejected it initially.

My FICO score on citibank app is 825.

Got an email today and they doubled it to 2200.00 haha. Not anywhere close to my other cards, but better than a rejection.

Can anyone tell me when I should apply for the Amazon Chase card? That is one I could really use for the rewards! RN I have the store card because they would not approve me years ago.

You can try the Amazon pre-approval, however they do not take Chase's 5/24 rule into consideration on the pre-approval.

If you are near or above the 5/24 and feel you won't be approved you can try the affinity cash rewards visa signature card it has year round 5% at Amazon. It normally has additional rotating 5% categories but currently is running a bonus points for spend promo combined with the sub would be around 12-14% cb at Amazon for the next 3 months.

It is unknown if the 5% rotating bonuses will return but as a strictly Amazon card is still one of the better no AF cards.

They only pull EX and are not inquiry or new account sensitive when I was approved 12 months ago I was 6/12 credit cards with an auto loan and 20+/24 inquiries (mostly from auto loan.

You can go for the Amazon Prime Visa because they dont count 5/24 against that card, i got mine when i was at 5/24. Also i suggest you call in and request a higher CLI they will ask you how much want and with your score you can surely sacrifice a couple points.

My Freedom Flex started as a CFU with a $500 limit 1 year ago, after transfering some limits and 2 manual CLI requests, now its at $7500.

First month spent 1206. Partially through the 1st statement, made a 900+ full payment before statement, then paid off the additional charges so the first statement was 0.00.

Second Statement one 260.00 charge, paid balance right after statement was issued.

Third Statement. 1100 in charges, payment during statement period, 437.00 balance at time of CLI.

It is definitely profile dependent, they absolutely gave 5/24 as my denial code. Others have posted the same.

I've only opened 2/24 so I'm fine there, I'm just wondering since I got declined on the 1st issued card 3 months ago, and had to call to get it approved if I will have that issue now since I have had a card 3 months with a CLI.

You can call and ask to speak to the underwriting department, I have done so at Chase before (as in all things YMMV). They may not tell you outright if it is a no go, but they may say something like apply in 6 months or work on getting your utilization down. Why don't you try the amazon pre-qual page first? See if they give you a soft yes on the pre-approval, and if you are still on the fence call Chase and see if you can speak to the underwriters.

Don't be afraid to point out your recent ACLI (Chase clearly thinks you are doing awesome) how much you like banking with Chase, Your objectives moving forward and how this card fits into them etc. Most people want to say yes give them a reason to do what they want to do, if they say a firm no... Tell them "You understand in the current economic climate , but how about maybe spliting the credit limit on your current card instead, Chase isn't extending me any more credit but I can still bring my amazon spend to Chase".

I tried the pre-qual page and it said I was pre-approved, filled out the application, and then it said they were not able to approve and said something about getting a response in 30 days. LOL

Regarding getting my utilization down I have zero balances on all my cards unless something posts right before the statement. It's always 1%. I don't even need credit cards.

I didn't know your utilization, I was just giving examples. I would definitely give Chase a call and see if anything can be done, especially given you had trouble with the CFU app it could be something simple.

In the mean time you may want to look into the affinity cash rewards card as I said before. The removal of the rotating 5% categories is a bummer but as a single use 5% card it is not too bad for Amazon still.

@BigOrange , if memory serves 30 days is not an auto denial, it could simply mean a manual review or id verification. [Edit, confusing applications.] When I applied, I also got the further review 30 day notice. Received a call from fraud dept (888-373-1969) early the following morning to confirm it was me who app'd and was then approved. He didnt offer, so I asked and he the gave me my SL, 27k.

Also here's the number for chase/amazon CustSvc 888-247-4080. Good luck!
