3rd Discover CLI in 72 Days!

Today I was able to get my 3rd credit limit increase in a row since doing a Balance Transfer in January 2023. I’ve been asking about every 30 days and they’ve granted me an additional $3000 each time. Thank you @jojo79 @outofcredit @mgood @Jnbmom @JNA1 for showing me this was possible! It feels great to finally reach my goal limit for this card of at least $25,000. I am truly happy with the new $26,500 limit so I’m not sure yet if I’ll pursue a 4th increase next month. If I do so, it’ll just be for the data point.

It’s still hard to believe that this is happening, being able to add $9000 to this card in the last few months! I used to ask for an increase and get declined for not spending enough on my card to merit an increase ($200-$500). Now I spend a lot less and keep getting approved. I’ve been spending $40-$50 a month the last 2 months. The difference I believe is the balance Transfer I did. I used to always pay in full. Now every time I’ve asked there has still been a card balance, but it’s been lower than last time I asked.

Full disclosure, I asked for an increase at 30 days on April 1 and they declined me. They said I’d receive a letter in 7-10 business days. I waited all week for it to come and it never did. Checked online to see if it was an electronic message and it wasn’t on my account either. Today I decided to go for it again thinking perhaps I asked too early and with it being a soft inquiry I went for it. It was instantly approved, so this increase took more than just 30 days. Today is 39 days since my last CLI approval.

June 2020 $13,500 starting limit

July 2021 $4000 CLI ($17,500)

January 17, 2023 Balance Transfer $2320

January 28, 2023 $3000 CLI ($20,500)

March 2, 2023 $3000 CLI ($23,500) (33 days since last CLI)

April 1, 2023 Asked for CLI and denied/denial letter still hasn’t arrived (30 days since last CLI)

April 10, 2023 $3000 CLI ($26,500) (39 days since last CLI)

I tried for a 4th consective cli in March but was denied for insufficient experience at current limit. I'm not mad though; I'll try again in a few months after putting it through some use.

@jojo79 Thank you for the congrats and for sharing your experience! Yeah, I don't need more so I might not even go for it. Guess we'll see. I wanted this card to reach $25K. So now I'm content with where it is.

Yes discover is great, I have a Discover card which is at cl of 29K. It looks like Discover wants customers to do balance transfer they must like the transfer fee. If you don't did you put money into your checking account or to another card. The question is what does Discover like more balance transfer to another loan to deposited into checking. Again congratulations on very nice credit increases on your Discover card.
