Student Cards-- SavorOne and Discover it Cash Back approved!

I am not-so-young student headed back to college this month via an online program to get an associate's degree. Two of the cards on my list of wants have been SavorOne and Discover. Decided to try to use the perks of having student status again to see if I could slide in and pick them up. It was a success!

For Capital One, I filled out the pre-qual on their website and was pre-approved for the SavorOne Rewards for Students, so I pulled the trigger. I was approved for a $500 starting line with a $50 SUB when you spend $100 in the first 3 months:

Discover was no dice on the pre-qual, so I took a chance and cold apped for the Student Cash Back card. The result was another $500 approval:

Small limits on both, but I trust that they'll grow (to be fair, I trust Discover to grow more than Cap1, but we'll see). I've had a lot of credit activity and a lot of new accounts in the last 6 months, so I definitely see some gardening happening now. With Mission Lane being the exception, I've been really diligent on only applying for cards that I find useful in my day-to-day life (whether that's a bank card or a store card). In prior rebuilds, I went crazy and grabbed everything I could possibly be approved for. Really happy that I've been making much smarter decisions this time around.

These two cards were both pretty high on my list of wants, so now that I have them, I should be good for awhile. Unless something falls into my lap that I'm not expecting/can't pass up, I don't anticipate any more apps happening before the end of the year, aside from possibly AMEX once my Optima passes the 1 year mark and my scores go up a bit more. Now I'm looking to age what I have and hopefully start getting some SP CLIs in the near future.

Please please please make sure your college is a not for profit, well accredited, and well respected school.

Many online schools are not.

It is! I don't trust those for-profit online schools. It's a program directly through my state's university system.
