topic Navy federal AMEX approval in Credit Card Approvals

I had an AMEX gold card for 10 years, closed the account, got a regular one, and had it for a couple of years. It was foolishly included in bankruptcy (it was paid off and I was in good standing). I am 6 years post-bankruptcy discharge and I've tried a few times to get back in with AMEX and they said no because of the bankruptcy.

I've had a Navy federal account for years and didn't really use it much, but they approved me for a toy limit of $500 on their AMEX card. I reconned to no avail.

Does anyone think this is a step in getting back in good graces with AMEX, even though it's through Navy federal?

Congrats on your NFCU Approval (I hope). At that line it will take a good while to raise it unfortunately.

Nothing to do with a genuine AmEx Card either. Only branded to run on their network.

Keep checking the AMEX pre-quals. There are a lot of data points here on myFICO and on other credit fora that show people with BK's getting in at 61 months post-filing if they did not burn AMEX. If AMEX took a loss, it's at least 10 years and maybe 20-plus. You should be able to get back in with them now. You might contact them and confirm that they don't show you having burned them for any money.

I IIB Amex and got back in at 61 months exactly.

That's great! How much did you burn them for? I'm coming up on 10 years and I regularly try the pre-qual button and they always send me a letter telling me "go away, we don't like you anymore." LOL.
