I requested this upgrade on 04/13/2014 through the Secure Message Center and six hours later got the following reply:

Dear mnavas,

Thank you for contacting Chase about changing your account
ending in XXXX.

In order to process your request, I have forwarded your
message to the appropriate department for review. An
escalation Specialist will review the request and will
contact you once the review is complete.

As always, it is important to provide you with a response
in a timely manner. Please be advised you will receive a
response within 10 to 14 business days.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

I tried to do this request on the phone but no luck. The clueless CSRs didn't even know what i was talking about.. they said it was impossible to do an upgrade to VISA SIGNATURE and instead i needed to reapply for a new card...of course i wasn't dumb enough to give up another HP and submitt another app for a new account

Anyway, yesterday i called their regular Customer Service number and while hearing all my account information through the Automated service i found out that i no longer have a CREDIT LIMIT but instead a CREDIT ACCESS LINE which means my Chase Freedom Visa is now SIGNATURE

Interesting Facts:

-My Chase account is only one year old. It was approved with a CL of $2,200 last march a requested a CLI to get it up $5000 and was given $800 but i was given the option of transfering some CL from my other Chase accounts which i did

-My Chase Freedom account is currently sitting at $5,700 due to the steps mentioned above

-I requested the Upgrade 9 days before my account anniversary which was due on 04/22/2014

-I was told it could take 10-14 days to complete the upgrade and it took about 10 business days (i kind of wonder if it took them that long because my account wasn't elegible for the upgrade due to the fact that i requested this before my account hit one year but yeah the upgrade was done between the timeframe)

-No call from Chase. I was expecting one because i read on this forum that many folks were contacted by Chase to update their income but i did request a CLI in march so i guess they had all my info updated and a call was not needed

Congrats! There is no doubt the CSRs are there to answer phones only. Had to use the Chase Secure Message for my Chase Business upgrade. Saved the EO but didn't need to. For years all the CSRs told me is an upgrade wasn't available on my account. Dogged determination!

Congrats! Had a similar ordeal when upgrading mine. My account was almost 3 years old in February and in March I received a $1k CLI pushing my CL to $5.5k. Called to upgrade to VS and was told it was not possible. Took almost 3 weeks and multiple SMs to finally get it converted.

Credit Access Line: It's the name that Chase uses for all Visa Signature versions. You might go over your CL without paying overlimit fees but any balance beyond your CL will need to be paid in full in your next billing statement. The tradeline is reported as Flexible Spending Credit card to the CRAs

Nope, you don't have to convert your Visa Platinum to Signature, It's just a personal decision... Some issuers like Chase will require you to have at least a $5,000 CL to qualify for the signature card.

I got about 14K on my freedom card that resulted from an auto CLI six months ago. I have called to have it converted into a signature type card, but the rep was adamant there were no such thing as converting to signature. Of course, the CSR wasn't very helpful in directing me to the right department or given me any information regarding the matter and ended the call.

Yeah i know the front line CSRs are clueless about this request and thats why you'll have to do it by sending a message through their Secure Message Center. Keep in mind thay your account needs to be at least one year old because for Chase this is a product change.

Oh it is my oldest account, 12 years. It used to be providan before chase took over it. I will definitely try the secured message method. Btw will this result in a HP?

Ok you're good to go then and no, no credit Bureau Report is pulled by Chase while evaluating your upgrade request. Some people have reported that Chase does a Soft pull, it might be... but a SP doesn't concern me at all .

I agreed, SP doesn't concern me at all too. BTW I sent them that message and they converted it right away. Thanks for that info!
