BCU Approval but....

Hi Guys!

I've been reading all about the BCU approvals on here that I needed to jump on that train! Well, over the weekend I applied for membership and the cash rewards card. I got the auto generated email, approved for $5,000 on the credit card. I've been reading that it's not officially approved until I provide DL, SS, and POI, so I was waiting for an email requesting these docs. I didn't bothering calling as I'm not in a major hurry, I can wait.

Well this morning the email came, however, they didnt ask for any of these items. They asked for my proof of memership eligibility and how I heard of BCU. I gave them a great story on how I heard of them, and snipped a copy of "Life, Money, You" which was my way in. They do have branches in my state, so that helps as well I believe. But, should we worry? Are they being flooded with new accounts/apps?

Congrats and sure it will all work out for you if did through right way. I guarantee you are only see 1/100th of the applications they are probably receiving from MF as a lot of people don't post and are members or just lurkers and see it and go for it. Not to mention if this made reddit and other sources as well which I am sure it did. So likely being flooded and way more applications than normal would be my guess.

@cashorcharge yes as long as you sign up for https://lifemoneyyou.bcu.org/ then it is overall easy although you will likely have to provide DL/SS card and likely POI. Will take a few days or at least did for me, but good things come if you play by their rules. Initially my account was flagged and talked to my rep. and said clear that all up before I go for credit products and less than a day later was all cleared up and been smooth sailing since.

I kept seeing all these approvals and thinking to myself, this is not the Boeing CU that I was familiar with...they scrutizined everytime and a lot of people outside their geo were not eligible..then it dawned on me, all these new approvals were Baxter not Boeing

I joined that LMY. Then BCU. Total time from app to today's final approval amount was 5 days.

I would not worry about the myfico family jumping on board BCU train. We know they will get bombarded!

Thank you everyone!

I have just received another email after thie initial request for verification of membership and explanation of how I heard of BCU.

My new card is on the way and my limit was increased from $5,000 to $20,000 with 0% intro for 12 months. This is perfect as I plan to move my only card balance from Amex to this card to pay off over the next few months.

I'm very happy with the approval and credit limit.
