Chase Prime Visa - I did a thing!

Hey myFICO family! 🥭

I did it again 😁

It's now been three months since the approval of my Chase Sapphire Preferred, and as always, I wasn't planning on getting any new cards until the ones I have now had aged a while. That didn't happen, but this approval and the solid base of cards I have now has set a good foundation for the cards I know I'll be applying for in the future.

The recent elevated offer of $200 upon approval had been on my mind since I took a look at the Amazon website back on Prime Day, especially as I had decided against getting any Bonvoy cards until after college (I'm not going by myself anyways, and we have a Titanium Elite in the household for room upgrades )

I applied on the Amazon website after logging in, which made the application very convenient, and opted for the Whole Foods card design in place of the two other options, hoped for the best, and clicked submit..

I was approved for the Chase Prime Visa for $6,000 at 24.24%!

Interestingly, this was the same SL I was approved for during the CSP approval, and at a lower APR than before, despite having 4 new cards in the past 24 months as opposed to my 3/24 status during the CSP application. (Still PIF all cards every month, but an interesting DP nonetheless, might be the additional payment history?) This brings my Chase exposure over 50% of income, but I'm not sure how much that is linked to the payment and charging history on the CSP, and how much a new banking relationship (added onto very old joint checking/savings accounts) has weighed into the approval decision.

I called in after getting the approval email (which came from Amazon, not Chase like last time) and was able to do a credit limit reallocation from the Prime to my CSP for $1,000 instantly. I'm thinking of holding off for 2 years now until these new accounts and inquiries age, then applying for the USB Altitude Go to cover restaurant spend, the Bonvoy Brilliant for hotels, and maybe Citi Custom Cash to round out supermarket spend. That should mean all categories are pretty optimized, but do let me know if I'm missing anything 🥹

Chase pulled Experian with a 758 F8, with 2 hard inquiries to date (AmEx Delta + CSP).

With this approval, I'm at 5/24 (ouch!! i'll cool off now ), and my total credit has hit $23,000. Utilization at 0%, AOoA at 1 yr, 4 mo., and AAoA at 8 mo, with a Clean/Thick/Young/New-Revolver scorecard. Without getting too much into Smorg territory, the same three options seen above in the approval email were included during the application, and I don't think I have seen the middle option anywhere, but the gradient was pretty. Might have to look if there are any pictures of what the actual card looks like online.

Also kudos to Chase's Card Services department (and UPS) for the expedited shipping! I called in yesterday morning to see if the card had been produced and shipped out, and upon their confirmation that it had not yet been, I requested expedited shipping and rec'd the card just now! I've read a lot on how American Express is great with card replacements, especially with a short turnaround time, but Chase did it just as well! (Also wow, the green looks great, and a welcome change from the neon-ish green of the Fidelity Visa)

Also point to note, the new card (both Whole Foods design and the blue Prime design (per ProudMoney)) doesn't have the signature line like the CSP (vers. 08/22) does. I've noticed that in a few other new cards too, with my Fidelity Visa (vers. 06/22) and DM's Verizon Visa Signature omitting this field, and DM's EveryDay Preferred (understandable, it's clear) and BofA Premium Rewards cards having an abbreviated(?) version of the signature line. I miss that new card signing feeling now 😆 (jk)
