I've been following the rumor of WF Autograph soon having transfer partners and decided to dip my toe in and apply.

Went in branch yesterday. Have an existing relationship (1 mo) with a Business Line of Credit at Wells Fargo. About 15 minutes to go through cards and submit my income into the WF system. Approved instanly for 30,000! Nice replacement for my Truist card (8k CL) which is closing as of next month. It will take I'm sure another 5 business days for it to arrive but it will be in plenty of time for Black Friday deals.

Congrats on the 30k SL! Why is your is card being closed? If it has an accual fee, they are usually pretty good about PCing it to a no annual fee card. If it is for non-use, just billpay $1 every 3-6 month (they mail it back, your average age of credit stays higher, and the $1 ping pongs by being mailed back to you). I had many cards get closed for non-use (to keep it 100, it was depression, I used my main cards, but didn't take that tiny effort to keep seldom used cards like store cards, my AmEx, a crappy Citi card that I should have PCed, and a few others open. If I had setup automatic billpay push of $1 on the bank side, they would have all stayed open. I only had pull paymemts (where the CC company takes the statement balance from your checking account on or near the due date). It took some time to repair my score. Despite the lack of negatives, lenders don't like to see little to no other active trade lines (not a pronlem in your case, but definitely showed me that credit was a ACTIVE pursuit).

The Truist card doesn't have an annual fee and there are no PC options. They want me to app and get a new Citi card.

As far as doing the small purchase thing to keep the account open I'm not seeing the point of it. 8k is not a big limit and it will hang on my credit report for another 10 years to help my AoA. If there was a viable use case for it I'd be more than willing to try and keep it but at this point I don't see one.

We shall see as the transfer partners won't be rolling out for a couple of weeks.

Regardless its not hard to complain about 30k SL on a zero percent BT card.

There are 2 related calculations, average age of ALL accounts (it will continue helping here for 7 years) and average age of OPEN accounts. If you can just billpay them $1 every 6 months or more to keep the card active (assuming you don't want to pay $1 of your phone or internet bill, heck I sometimes paid Comcast [I don't have them anymore] $0.01 just to keep activity on a card, even if it gets written off by the time the statement generates).

Also, one rep might say 'no' to PCing the card, but another might say 'Yes', or a supervisor might do it [it's amazing how far people will go for your if you ask really nicely].
