PenFed Gold approval x 2 - Prequal is accurate!

It's time for a BT shuffle and out of the 9 cards I had, NO ONE had a BT offer. 😒 I'm definitely not interested in a new card, but there was no way I was going to pay 25% interest on $10K. NFCU was my hope since they don't have BT fees, but since that was a no-offer zone, I decided to look at PenFed. I saw the pre-qualify tool, put a temporary thaw on my credit reports and gave it a go for the Gold Card offer of 0% for 15 mos on a BT with a 3% fee. It said prequalified for $10K @ 17.99%, so I pulled the trigger and was approved for exactly that.

DH decided to also try and got a pre-approval for $15K @ 17.99% which turned into an approval.

It appears the pre-qualify tool is accurate. Granted, I was required to log into my account before submitting, so not sure how accurate it would be for a non-member.

Side note: The website process is either janky or there was a glitch in the middle of my app. It spun and spun without giving a decision, so I opened an incognito browser, logged into my PenFed account and saw that I had the approval before closing the window.

Double side note: I just looked as I was making this post and wouldn't you know, Chase now has an BT offer for my Sapphire. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I hate that 5% fee, though.

Triple side note: I just reached over $200K in available credit. Not bad for someone who never even owned a cc until 2019.

Last time I applied for a Penfed card, I got denied witha 750 TU FICO. I think they pulled TU back then.

Last time I applied for a Penfed card, I got denied witha 750 TU FICO. I think they pulled TU back then.

They actually only pulled our EQ.

congrats again! Still sooOOOOO JEALOUS! This is like one of those cards that like no matter how hard I try or how high my score is.. I feel like I will never get. I got denied almost ten years ago when my score was near its highest 750-790 across. heh. I need to work on breaking 800 lol
