99/500 BOA randomly approved

About two months ago I applied for the Bank of America cash rewards card and was immediately turned down, last weekend I opened the BOA app, and I had a little notification pop-up saying I had a credit card offer and it was the 99/500. I immediately jumped on the offer and paid the 99$, I've been a Bank of America customer for about seven years with a checking account and direct deposit set up.My credit score is 622 across-the-board and I am four years out of chapter 7 bankruptcy.

I have a few questions about the credit card.

Its the BankAmericard Platinum Plus

Mastercard with No annual fee and something about balance transfer.

How come this is a MasterCard not a Visa card? and I noticed a credit line increase button, after how many months can I try to get a credit limit increase?

I guess the only negative thing about the card is, I don't really get any cash rewards, but maybe I can ask for a product change somewhere down line.

Congrats on your approval and for waiting for the right offer to come. Yes, the credit limit increase button is typically there when new accounts appear in your app. Although you may have the option to request a soft pull cli, it doesn't mean you're eligible / it's probably too new for this account. And conversely, if the button doesn't show up in your app, that doesn't mean you aren't actually eligible. Can call in.

Thanks, i figured its a great way to get a different card with BOA sometime down the road.

Any major diffrences between Visa and Mastercard ?

Congratulations on your approval. BOA is relationship heavy, so use the card, pay it off, and that card will grow.

* they usually unsecured around the 7th month mark

* once TU scores hit 670, will start to see good growth, 720 is doors open

* when requesting CLI, ask for 99k, they will counter (SP everytime)

Difference between MC and Visa is customers choice. But once on one network, I don't think one can switch. Just apply for new card, once approved call in to select network.

YMMV. I started out with 500 secured, after 5 years, card sits at 39k. Card really grew once my negatives aged past 3 yrs.

The 99/500 card is a counter offer to an application for a better card. You cant apply for it specifically.Like i said, it took about 2-3 month to get the counter offer after i was turned down.
