Various CC Approval Info & Story

Hello Everyone. This is my first post on the forums and I have been rebuilding my credit for last 1.5 years or so with the help of this site and others. I would like to tell my approval stories as I think they might help some folks with questions. I have no late payments in the last 1.5 years. Before that multiple late payments. 180+ on student loans and multiple +30 days on auto and mortgage. More than seven years ago I settled a ton of credit card debt but did not file bankruptcy.

I have a home loan, 2 auto loans, a small student loan, and when I began my repair journey one credit card with a $500 CL. A capital one platinum on the credit steps program where as long as I pay on time they give me regular CLI. I have never had a late CC payment since I got the cap one and frequently pay in full but not always.

I started with a credit score ranging from 550 to 580. After 1.5 years my Cap One card now has a CL of $2750 after a couple increases from Cap One and one that I requested myself. I will request another at the end of this month. They also converted me to the quicksilver cash back card.

I recently was approved for the Discover IT card to my surprise with a CL of $5700. When I recieved the welcome packet whatever bureau they use indicated a 680 credit score.

I was nervous to apply for an Amex due to all the things I hear about needing a high credit score but I wanted it for the grocery cash back. I applied yesterday online for the Blue Cash Everyday card and recieved an instant approval for $4700 CL With a 680 credit score.

I now carry a small balance on the Discover but will use the other two for groceries and bills and pay off every month. Just to utilize the cash back. I am sure my score may go down a bit from the recent credit hits but at least with my history (which I do not consider the best by any means) you certainly can get approved for Amex and Discover with sub 700 scores. I think some of it may be the fact that I have been so good with my initial Cap One card but I am unsure.

Congratulations! The CL's are nice and should off put the inquiries. AAOA may take a dip, but you should be in good shape. Age those sweet babies.
