AMEX - 60k CREDIT LIMIT- BCP

I just got AMEX 60K credit limit for the Blue Cash Prefered (BCP).

I was approved instantly from my mobile app.

I have read on many boards including myfico forum that anything above 35K might trigger finanacial review.

I wanted to request 90K before, but was scared of the FR. I don't mind the tax , but not the bank statements stuff.

HIstory - I burnt AMEX about 13 years ago on 3 cards, I had a seperate post for that.

I apply to this card in Oct last year - approved 20K.

request 10K increase in Jan approved (I was scared they will remember me and cancel my card, so I did not request 3x).

today I request 2x to 60K - instant approval - no questions asked.

Reasons they might not ask me for FR.

I got the BCP in October 2023.

I applied for the Gold Card in Jan 2024 approved.

I got a $250 offer from them to open a checking account in Feb 2024 (condition - min $1K direct deposit for like 4 times).

I have since got the offer amount and I have about 10K in the checking account.

In summary -

the FR is YMMV.

I am still angry at myself for not requesting $90K.

I only have 2 AMEX cards (BCP and Gold).

I have had the BCP for less than 9 months - very impressive at 60K.

Lastly, stated income is $250K. No income verificatoni was ever required .

Congratulations! Fantastic cl and cli. Good data points as well. I have the bce. I got $6000 initally, auto cli to $9000 at 6 months. I went for the 3x at 6 months, got $27000. I'd rather avoid fr as well. I'm thinking maybe ask for $50000 in dec.

Just a reminder that the CLI request MAY generate (and there is certainly no $35K hard and fast rule) a Proof of Income request (often via tax return), NOT an FR. The major difference being that a PoI is optional, if you don't provide it, you don't get the CLI but everything else stays the same. With an FR, refusual to provide will lead to accont closure (and of course this may happen anyway if they are unhappy with the results of the FR)

Just don't ask for a CLI that will result in a credit limit more than half your stated income.
I got denied when I tried to jump from $27k to $50k, with a stated income of $87k, with the reason being that they were not able to grant it due to income.
3 months later they granted my request for $34k.
Last month they denied my request for $50k, and got denied for the same income reason.
When I'm elligable to request again, I'll ask for $42k or so and see if it works.
My actual income is higher than my stated, but I only state what I can prove with tax returns.

They won't allow me to go higher - I'm at 38.3k with two cards. I don't put a lot through them and rarely use the Everyday. Once my w2 is 100K plus I'll ask again and give them the taxes so long as they don't want my bank statements. 40K - 50K grocery card is ridiculous and I want it lol. Stated income is now 120K I believe, which is what I expect, and 100 prior. It is hard for me to predict in my industry.

This card was my DD for last 8 months (with intention of getting a CLI)

i put an average of 4k to 7k monthly.

pay in full before next statement.

i currently have about $600 in rewards dollars

credit scores above 800

based on you guys comments -

it seems FR is not related to CLI as @Anonymous suggested , but based on bank's algorithm on suspicious activities .

i have read somewhere that if you have direct deposit with any bank - they have access to your income.

it is also possible my income is reported to that worknumber as @GZG suggested

my suggestion if you want to apply for CLI is to use the card as DD a few months before your CLI request.

the number of swipes is equally as important if not more important that the overall dollar amount.

@Anonymous is correct. AMEX FRs in general aren't triggered by CLI requests, they're a typical response to what they see as behavior consistent with a potential adverse change in financial status or a potential lining up to commit fraud and while they may only want you to provide evidence of income they can choose to dig deeper and request detailed evidence of current financial posture including asset verification.

All of a sudden cycling that $60K limit a few times over the next couple of months is an example of something that would gain their attention and would risk triggering a FR even if the entire balance was being promptly payed off each time.
