Well played! FWIW, when Jovia was slow to respond to the LOC app, that's when I went ahead and app'd for the other CC to get their attention--in my case the Signature Elite since I'd already been approved for the Advantage. Later that day, the LOC was approved, and as you know, the Signature Elite as well. Obviously if you have no interest in the Advantage, you wouldn't do this, but just throwing it out there that even though they have language warning you off apping for a second card, they might approve it.

Thank you everyone.

I just had to call Service CU because they actually declined my applications .

The rep said that they could not verify my employment and income

I submitted 2 paystubs and W-2s for 2022 & 2023. So I don't understand what the issue is.

The rep told me to wait for the adverse letter because there was nothing else she could tell me regarding the verification process. Of course I refused because that explantion doesn't make any sense. I pushed to speak with a supervisor.

The supervisor I spoke with was extremely helpful. She said at the time of submission the membership had not been fully established so she is going to resubmit the applications for further review now that it has been.

Fingers crossed.

Since the pull is good for 30 days, I might just apply for it once the Elite is showing up on the dashboard.

I want to start closing down my store cards and need replacement limits so my utilization doesn't take a hit.

I can't believe it. Their fraud department actually accused me of sending fraudulent documents.

I have never in my life been accused of fraud nor have I committed it. SMH

They couldn't verify my income and thought my paystubs were fake - hence the W-2s

Regarding POI. My wife applied for the CC and LOC after I did. She got the 25k CC and the LOC was in review.

This morning about 7am PST she receives a phone call on her office line from a Joivia rep (She likes to go in early to beat traffic).

They didn't have her extension number so they had to find her through the automated phone system at the fortune 500 company she works for. A few different divisions and departments later they found her. They wanted to call and verify her work information and verify a few things on her app. Everything was fine because she didn't lie about anything. So just to let you know that they are checking employment.

I guess the recent run on apps is getting them concerned. I have not heard back from her yet if they approved her or not.

And I totally agree about the need to verify employment. However, they never even tried. They would not take a phone number or suggest other ways to get my employment verfied.

The fraud department restricted the checking account to cash only transactions, downgraded the savings to a basic account and said the decision was final. The fraud manager asked a few more verifcation questions and kept questioning me about why I wanted to bank with them. For some reason she seemed to think I was lying. But everything she asked about can easily be verified by any consumer reporting agency. Unfortunately, she was not very helpful and stuck to her guns. So I just closed the accounts.

It would be nice to know what they thought was fraudulent, but I understand that they can't divuldge that information. And it is really scary because I have never experienced this before, makes me wonder if someone is using my identity or something. I hope this doesn't have a negavtive ripple affect in the future.

I am still waiting to hear from Jovia.

I had a very similar situation in May of 2022 with Consumers Credit Union. I applied after my wife did, but everything went down hill from there. My experience was almost a mirror of yours. I had to jump through all kinds of hoops and then they decided to cancel everything and mailed me a check for my opening balances. I think they even sent me a letter basically stating don't apply again. My wife still holds an account there but does nothing with it.

Sometimes when there's a rush to join every CU that's open to everyone we find it's really not worth it. Back in my heyday I followed the crowd and trying to get in all these CUs but what I found in my experience and what relates to me unless you have something they want or need, you might not get the attention you want or deserve. I had Service but do not nor did I like trying to sign in. They wouldn't lend to me for my life. I'm low income and have debt so most lenders are turned off by me regardless of credit score or positive history. Unless it's your only option or you are in their general service I wouldn't put much stock in Service. Sorry about your problems though.

Sometimes when they see all these new applications and they feel these new applicants won't be using their products they might start feeling the need to get more intrusive. Just look at hard it got after initial influx with the AOD CU with the 3% cb cc.
