Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles Approval No Hard Pull

Was approved today for the Turkish Miles&Smiles Visa Signature card without a hard pull.

Been seeing some activity on the forum about this pre-approval, so decided to test my luck.

I unfroze my TransUnion report, applied, was offered a SL of 15k. At this point, I refroze my TransUnion report and accepted the offer. Was immediately able to add the card to Apple Pay. Got a notification from Credit Karma that TU blocked a hard pull.

Fico 8 TU at the time of applying was 756 with many hard pulls / new lines of credit in the past twelve months.

Fingers crossed no issues in receiving the card 🤞

Just checking, is that the main allure of this card? I like a high SL as much as anyone else, but I notice that the SUB is only 40,000 points after $3K spend, which seems a little low for a $95 AF card.

Turkish Airlines miles are worth about 1.2 cents according to TPG, and the card is usually 1 mile per dollar with a few 2 miles per dollar categories - so let's guesstimate you could get an average of 1.5 miles per dollar while getting the SUB.

That comes to 44,500 miles after spending $3K, or about $534 in point value. After the $95 AF, that's an effective $439 bonus.

I guess that's OK. But both the Capital One Venture and Citi Strata Premier, have a 75,000 point SUB (transferable 1:1 to Turkish miles) after spending $4K, with the same $95 AF.

Besides the high SL and the way to get it without the HP, is there something I'm missing about the Turkish Airlines card? And can it be downgraded after the first year while keeping the CL?

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they clawed back that approval, being unable to do the hard pull.

Just for sh**s 'n' giggles I apped it, got a screen that said something to the effect that they'd need more time to make a decision and that they'd email me in 2-3 days. I only got that far reading it before it loaded the offer page saying I was approved for $5,000. I haven't decided whether or not to accept. I mean, I could use the padding but I don't travel, (I've only been more than 25 miles from home once in the last decade and that was for a friend's wife's funeral,) and I'm Team Cashback, not Team Points. I don't think the padding is worth $99 a year but it would be a second 5G card (my current highest limit). Decisions, decisions...
