I showed prequalified for Macys store and Amex card

Store $1000

and Amex $1500

doesnt make sense but whatever

i applied for the Amex took the hard pull. Pulled equifax.
got code 25. Needed ID verification. Called got the security department. Sent a text message to my phone

and approved for the $1500 Amex

I asked on the same call if they could raise that limit due to a furniture purchase. And waited for account specialist to process the request. No additional pull

asked me how much I said 10k.
APPROVED. I should have asked for more.

Did this for fun and was offered the store card with an $800 limit. Probably gonna wait though since a Macy's card was included in my BK and I know Citi is a hard one to crack less than two years out.

That's awesome, congrats @MyDataMyChoice ! Great to see Macy's offering a pre-qualification tool now. I tried it as well and got similar results: a $1,000 store card and $1,500 for the Amex version. I'll hold off for now, though. Macy's wasn't part of my Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2021, so it's nice to see Citi approving with a bankruptcy on file. I also tried with Home Depot, and after months of only getting a $500 pre-approval, I was recently pre-approved for $5,000, but I didn’t take it—just testing the waters for now.

I had the same pre-qualification except with $2,000 limits, got code 25 also, after spending a half hour on the phone with the rep that seemed to have a hard time figuring out what to do I was told i'd receive a letter in 7-10 business days, which seems like a decline. Disppointing wasted an inquiry, I have a couple other citi retail cards.

@MyDataMyChoiceI didn’t have the same luck. I was also pre-approved for the Macy’s American Express card with a limit of $1,500. When I called to verify my information, they asked which version I wanted, and I chose the Amex version. I inquired about a higher limit, but they said I could request one after making my first purchase or if I made a purchase exceeding the given limit, which doesn’t make much sense to me. I didn’t push the issue further. However, I still don’t see the card linked to my Macy’s profile, nor have I received any confirmation emails regarding my new account after hanging up. How long did it take for you to receive any confirmation of your approval?

I'd call back and speak to another rep

it was on the same call

Also you may need to wait for the physical card for security

or go in person to show an ID.
buy something in store in person

This is promising for me. I was approved in December and they were IIB. I'll try to call them and see if I can get my CL bumped too.
