PayPal Cashback Mastercard Approval 10 Months Post Chapter 7

So I filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy back in February 2024 because of medical debt. Part of my filing also included the Venmo Visa and Amazon Store Card. I've read online that Syncrhony can be forgiving for people anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. So I decided to apply on a whim, for the PayPayl Mastercard since it was a no ding denial. To my surprise, I was approved for $700. It might not be for much, but the fact that it's only been 10 months for me since I filed, gave me hope. I was given instant access to $500 and I was able to add the card to my google wallet on my phone for immediate use.

Side Note: I decided to be a little greedy and also applied for the Amazon Store Card since it's also through Synchrony Bank. I was immediately declined, which was no surprise to me. I received an email from them stating that I was declined because I currently have/had an Amazon Store Card with them and cannot open one at this time. It'll probably be a long while before I can open the Amazon card again.

Keep pushing forward. Its a marathon not a sprint. Having been in your shoes years ago with Medical debt, I certainly sympathize. I bet you'll get back in around the 2 year mark with the Amazon Store Card. UW is pretty laidback with that card. Just rebuild responsibly.

Good job. I was approved for the PayPal Cashback Mastercard in 2022 with only a $500 limit. It's now $10,000. Pay it on time and they can be generous with CLI's.
