Approved for Amex Platinum!

This is my 3rd Amex card I applied for the Blue Cash Preferred back in February. I thought the 6% cash back on grocery would be sweet. However, at this point I'm not interested in cash back anymore I'm all about the miles and points now. I'll be cancelling this card January, 2015.

I applied for the Hilton HHonors Surpass just a few weeks ago. Already met the spending requirement and I'll use this card for gas and grocery since I like Hilton points since those are the only properties I stay at.

My Platinum card I'll use for everything else

If a merchant doesn't take Amex, then I'll use either my Barclaycard Arrival or Cap1 Venture as a back up.

I'll be going to London and Germany in July, so the Amex Platinum will be nice to use where Amex is accepted I have a feeling I'm going to run into quite a few places that say they won't take it. I've been doing a little research today and I guess London won't be as bad for being told no, but I fear Germany will be a less than 50% acceptance rate with my Amex card.

Does anyone have any experience with Amex Platinum in London and Germany?

Holy smokes! I just got a tracking number from UPS My Choice and my Platinum card will be here on Monday by 10:30am! I applied LATE Friday night (around 10:30pm CST).

I looked everywhere to see if Amex ships cards on Saturdays and I could not find anything! Hopefully this post will be helpful when others Google the same question ;-) Yes, Amex does ship the Platinum card on Saturdays for overnight shipping to be delivered on Monday morning!

Hope this isn't too late! I am a regularly in London and for any normal place of business I have never encountered a problem'. Hotels', restaurants and bars all seem to be very used to amex. The only area of concern is automated machines like tube or rail ticket machines which occasionally seem to only favor chip and pin cards.

Congrats!

I've had no issues with Amex internationally, especially in London. Other countries aren't as welcoming, but England you should be fine. Also, I have the Platinum and it has a chip, although I don't think I ever received a PIN (which you will need for Europe).

If you don't get a platinum with a chip on it then call them and ask them to send you one, they will. Also, ask them how you get a PIN, and then update this thread so I can get a PIN too
