2 years ago my score was in the low 500s. Today I got approved for a USAA card. It's only a 1k limit but it's a card I couldn't get such a short time ago. YAY!

Congratulations..us this a visa or the amex?

Be aware they can be stingy on cli .

i Don't know your spend or card line up or if you are doing AZEO or what. With usaa plan if you can to push about 75 pecent of limit through each month AND PIF before it closes. Only do legit needed spend.

Some cli requests get a HP, othes may not. Depends on your profile with them.

The visa. I'm a OTR trucker. So I plan on putting my spending and groceries on it every month and paying it off a few days in advance, then switching to my capital one venture til the monthly bill posts

Good plan. Just take care not to Max out the card ever. They're touchy on maxed cards even if you PIF every time.

Also be aware they don't like accounts that have high utilization on other tradelines ....very risk averse

Congratulations @Fester82 on your USAA approval. I personally have found them to be generous with limit Increase requests but I've never had high utilization with them. I get nice increases without heavy usage....just got a increase on one with them and haven't used it in 8 months 😊 but I guess your results may vary. Anyway good luck to you and hopefully you can grow that limit over time 😊🎇

Congrats! USAA was the first to give me a chance after a rough time in 2007 and abstaining from credit cards. CLI in my experience went from 5,000 initial to 7800 to 10,500 every 6 months. I haven't asked for another since last year since I am ok at that limit but in my experience they are easy to work with. Enjoy your new card!
