Just wanted to post this.

Was just approved for an Apple Card a week ago. I hate Apple products but I wanted to slap down a fun metal card when I go to restaurants and especially bars. Yes I know it's only 1% back and I have 4% cards (Altitude Go and Verizon Visa) but the difference between 1 % and 4% back is not meaningful to me. I make $300 or so per hour so $3 per $100 spend is, shall we say, "chump change." I was preliminarliy approved for the card for a SL of $2000. My FICO is ~730 but I have $120,000 in total CLs and 15 new open cards within the past two years. I accepted.

Knowing that one can only get a titanium Apple card by requesting one from Apple Wallet, I immediately purchased a well-used iPhone 6 from ebay for $38 so I could do so.

I was able to load the digital card onto the iPhone 6 and request a real titanium card immediately, which is what I was looking for. Note: "AI" and reddit posts say that you have to have a device "running the latest iOS version" to request a physical card. This is totally incorrect. My iPhone 6 runs iOS 15.8.4 as of September 14, 2025. This is FAR from the "latest version" of iOS. I was able to order a titanium card from the wallet app with no problem.

Strangely, about 3 days after being approved for the card, I received an email saying my credit limit was bumped from $2000 to $3000. I did not make this request, nor did I use the card before the CLI was announced. I have made no purchases whatsoever on the card at this point. Not sure why the CLI even happened.

I'm still waiting for the titanium card. I plan to make no purchases through Apple Pay but will throw down the titanium card if the bartendrix (bartendress?) is young and cute enough. I'm 50 years old so I don't think this will make any sort of difference in my dating life but hey, one can pretend. There's no fool like an old fool.

Also, fun fact, I received no "hard pull" on any credit report. I had temporarily unfrozen my three credit reports to see about the pre-approval. I applied and accepted, saw no hard pull, then re-froze my reports an hour or so later. Usually my phone lights up like a Christmas tree from a dozen credit monitoring things whenever there's a hard pull on any of my reports. Nope. No attempt at a hard pull from Goldman.

As an oldster, I find the Apple card to be rather interesting and unique. It's definitely intended to be a 21st century digital card that seamlessly integrates with a person's digital devices. And to that end, it works well. The oddity is its physical being -- I think they made the titanium physical card for schmucks like myself who are willing to take the financial hit to throw down a reasonably fun & fancy legacy card product. I'm fine with that. Most Gen Zeroes and the like will not care. I hate Apple products less now that I understand them. They remind me of the "walled garden" of Prodigy and AOL back in the day. I don't personally like that but I can see how others would because it all just works, even if it's rather stifling.

Thought I'd put out these data points FYI. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Congrats on the Apple card! I run an app every few months just for giggles, and because it's a quick easy way to generically see what kind of SL that someone would grant me, PLUS they show you your FICO TU score 9 on the app which is nice if you otherwise have no access to that. I am the exact opposite in that I contemplate every transaction, and will swipe one card vs. another if it means even earning an extra 1% on a purchase! Enjoy your new card and I hope it grows nicely for you!

Congratulations on your approval and thank you for the epic tale!

For the science, my AppleCard approval several years ago mirrored your DP as far as no HP and then a 50% CLI less than 24 hours later.

I wonder if the new AppleCard buyer will still issue cardholders "titanium clunkers" - for handing to the Barminxes of course...

Coolest thing about the physical card...it has NO numbers on it...so handing it over to someone when paying a bill is pretty secure versus a card with numbers that could be copied.

Congratulations on your Approval!!👏🏼🍾🥂

The physical card is it's best, and only worthwhile feature. The titanium card is great at chopping things up, and unlike the CSR or Amex Platinum, isn't just a thin metal veneer that separates from the plastic underneath. Those two are just junk for chopping things up.

I hope your barminxes find this equally as cool.

Just like many people, I received an email last week saying I was pre-approved for an Apple Card and could see the proposed SL before applying for the card. I have received those e-mails before and never responded. However, I am on vacation and after a couple beers, I pulled the trigger just to see what the starting line would be. I was shocked that they offered me a $40K starting limit. The starting limit is not as high as the current limits on some of my other cards, but definitely the highest SL I have ever been offered. So I accepted the card. Goldman Sachs did a hard pull on TransUnion, when setting up the account.
