AMEX Platinum Approval!

I just got approved for my 2nd AMEX card! I'm happy to have the Platinum because I have a trip at the beginning of June and really wanted to try out the Centurion Lounge.

I initially applied for the Platinum the same day I got the Gold 7 days ago and was denied due to velocity, but I tried again today and got the approval. It appears to be a soft pull using the 704EX FICO they pulled last time.

At the time of this application I was 4/6,12,24 for new accounts and 5/6,12,24 for Hard Pulls, although my profile is likely only showing 3 new accounts as of last hard pull and any current soft pull.

Question

How soon can I apply for a non-charge card without risking an auto-denial? I'm looking to get the MB Brilliant and BBP still and think I'm going to add the Hilton Aspire to my list of desired cards too. I'm taking a cross country drive in early June so I'd likely want to try to snag one of the hotel cards before the trip if I am able to.

The AMEX cards are the only cards I really desire for the forseeable future. (next 1-1.5 years)

Congrats!! Let us know if the lounge is everything it’s cracked up to be.

As for another card, I’d wait a couple months at least. You’re in the honeymoon phase with Amex still 🙂

I'll be flying out of San Francisco soon and will be there a few hours before take off. Looking forward to trying out the Centurion Lounge and the the priority pass lounge to see how they are, I've never been in any lounge ever!

temper your expectations, use the app to check-in 30 minutes before you anticipate arriving, sign up for TSA pre-check using the Amex credit, and enjoy.

I wasn't aware that I needed to check into the lounges, do I do that through the app? I'm already a pre-screend traveller and I'm not taking any luggage so I'll have a lot of spare time. More so excited to use the lounges for the free food to save me some money on eating dinner.

The Centurion Lounges are frequently at capacity so they introduced a way to check-in via the Amex app. You can list your flight info and whatnot, as well as find out how busy the lounge is ahead of time. More often than not I use a Priority Pass, or airline specific lounge at DFW because I don't want to wait 30 minutes to get in the Centurion lounge. Or if I'm at an airport that has a Sapphire lounge I'll always defer to that option over the CL.
