Chase AARP Visa

Who has this card? I heard you could get an AARP "associate" membership if you're under 50, but does Chase check (or even care) if you're an associate member or a full member?

Turns out you don't need to be an AARP member to app for this card. Instant approval with a $13.7K CL. I'll be cancelling my Amazon Visa and Cash+ tomorrow (once payments post). Granted, 5% on restaurants/fast food from Cash+ is better than 3% from Chase AARP, but at least I will no longer have to deal with US Bank.

I vaguely remember that the application requires your membership number or something like that. Did you just leave that blank? Or is there an alternate way to apply?

By the way, the Santander Bravo card would have been another alternative. 3% on Gas, Groceries and Restaurants.

The only problem i've had with US Bank has been that they denied me credit limit increases. Then recently they sent me a letter explaining they found and corrected a bug in their system, and so I was able to increase my cash+ cards to 10K each. And I like the 6.25% cash back ($100 plus bonus $25 on $2000 spend).

I stayed away from the Santander Bravo because of all the negative comments I found about their credit reporting practices.

Did you find out if the associate membership would work? I would wait to make sure the account has no eligibility issued before closing my other TLs.

I read the terms & conditions and I didn't see AARP membership mentioned anywhere as a requirement to get the card (unlike the Costco Amex). It even appeared right away on my Chase online profile. The AARP membership # wasn't even required to apply.

What's the underwriting like on this card? What scores are required? I just got approved for a chase amazon card, is there a waiting period between Chase apps?
